How much phone screen time should an 11 year old have?

Just that. If you were setting a limit on your 11 year old’s phone of how many hours per day they were allowed to use their phone what would it be? Would it be different for weekends and weekdays?

No limit of time, but need to be off by 10pm schoolnights and unlimited in holidays and at weekends.

following as mine about to get a phone and definately want to limit the hours until she learns how to self regulate

@RoseHarper - really? We already have an 8.30 bedtime and she has to leave the phone downstairs. My issue is that she would just sit and play on her phone constantly if she had the chance. I want her to self regulate but I think she’ll only do that if I set a limit on the phone itself so she gets out of the habit of just idly scrolling through things.

Yes, really. There is no way my 11 year old would go to bed at 8.30pm. She uses her phone to communicate with her friends mostly on facetime. She is doing well in school and this is in line with her peers, every child is different though so you will know your own child best, the most important thing is to stick to to your boundaries once set.
