Talk to me about Apple Watches.....

Have been thinking of asking for one of these for this Christmas from DH but I’m not technologically savvy so have no idea what I’m doing!

Here’s what I would like it to do:

Record my steps
Have a stopwatch for when I’m doing my running and want to see how much time I’ve got left
Record my sleep
Tell me my heart rate
Link to my phone for recording where I run

Here’s what I’m not bothered about:
Getting notifications like texts, WhatsApp messages etc. Too intrusive.

Which model would be the best for me?

Oh and I’d like to able to listen to music with it via AirPods.

I have one, really simple to turn off notifications you don't want and will do all that other stuff.

If you want it to play music and log runs but your phone is at home then you need a cellar one, which will need it's own contract, mine was £5 a month with o2.
I don't sleep with it on as that's too much organisation for charging for me.
It does t have the greatest battery life like a Fitbit, won't last 4/5 days. Mine needs charging each evening as I use it a lot.
Connects to my AirPods nicely though and I conduct calls, audio books, radio, Spotify through it.

I have an SE, bought it in feb I think so the last round of releases.
I wasn't bothered for the ecg and blood pressure readings so didn't spend the extra.

Love it and can't get by without it now.

I find mine (5 series) v useful for Apple Pay but I’m so disappointed with the battery life. It won’t last more than a couple of hours recording on Strava and playing music .

I have the series 6, non cellular. It records anything I could think of when it comes to working out - not just time, steps and speed, but plenty of features I would never have thought of (length of stride, whether my steps are asymmetric, blood oxygen etc etc).

So long as your phone is with you, you will have music and I think I can probably upload a certain amount of music/podcasts etc to the watch though I have never actually tried, so don’t trust me on that without checking.

I don’t record my sleep, but you can.

Different things suit different people, but I will say that the Apple Watch suits me beautifully. I like the different watch faces (easy to switch between them) and the ability to switch access different apps very easily and I like the functions that it offers. I’ve also appreciated the fact that it’s better at recording my exercise than I am as it does it automatically.

You probably don’t need the most up to date advanced model for what you want but would still be really happy with it. Have fun!

I use mine series 6 for all but not the sleep tracking as I charge it overnight.

Battery life is fine I use strava for recording walks of several hours and runs of much less and swims of up to an hour. It uses about half to 3/4 of the battery life daily and quickly charges overnight. If I used the sleep thing I think it would use the full life and would have to charge the next morning.

I wouldn’t go Apple Watch if you want to record your sleep. I love them, but they need charging daily, and so you have to choose steps or sleep, really.

There are Garmin & Fitbit’s that definitely don’t need daily charging, which means they can do both “more”, if recording both is important to you,
