I've just had an email to say my flight to Germany has been cancelled. I wasn't due to fly until the 21st November.
Long awaited 3 day break. Am so gutted I've just burst out crying. Pathetic i know. It appears from now looking at the news that Germany,Netherlands and Morroco are suspending all UK flts from midnight.
Feel so down. Sorry to moan.

Oh no.
Can you change it to somewhere else? Flowers

Onaloop · 20/10/2021 15:04

Urgh, I live in Germany but from the uk. Im about to have a baby in early November and now I doubt any family will be able to visit us :(

I just read the Guardian article and it said that Morocco are banning flights from the UK, Germany and France. So you should still be able to go UK > Germany as far as I can tell. Unless the airlines know something that hasn't been made public yet...

FlibbertyGiblets · 20/10/2021 15:07

I am so sorry, what a blow. Ona, too.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/10/2021 15:11

I thought it was Germany, along with UK and Netherlands to Morroco flights that were being banned?

Feel for you though. We had flights to Berlin for a city break in the summer that were cancelled too. But then we've just come back from a different holiday and with all the faffing with forms and tests I'm not sure it was worth it.

That's what I read too.

I did think that, once the peak summer tourist season had passed, that we might see UK travellers be banned from certain countries if our COVID numbers weren't under control. I wonder if this is the start of that?

Aposterhasnoname · 20/10/2021 15:15

As everyone else has said, it’s Morocco suspending flights to Germany and the uk. You should be able to book another flight.

NearLifeExperience · 20/10/2021 15:15

Oh poo! Was hoping to visit my daughter in a few weeks time... she lives mostly in the Netherlands but spends a lot of time in Germany too. Looks like neither may be possible.
I'd never have thought Covid disruption would have lasted this long; keep thinking things are getting better, and then it blows up again. 😞

Sorry about your holiday, OP, that sucks.

Babybellblue · 20/10/2021 15:16

I'm just on hold to Lufthansa now. I'm hoping it's just because of overbooking and we can re book. @onaloop I really hope your family can get hereFlowers

I just returned from Germany... all i can find online is morocco has cancelled all flights from uk, but no news of UK to germany...

notimagain · 20/10/2021 15:29

According to most sources it’s ban from midnight tonight on arrivals into Morocco from UK, Germany and Netherlands

Babybellblue · 20/10/2021 15:35

My mistake guys. The flight has been withdrawn but have been offered 3 alternative dates. The airline said to make sure our insurance is fully valid as its a current fluid situation. Whatever that means??? Confused

@Babybellblue my flight to and from Germany was delayed at both ends. My flight to germany had issues with fuel being delivered to the right place, my flight from germany back to uk had issues with the biometric gates being broken at heathrow and hence they had to delay the flight to prevent congestion.

I think due to supply shocks and worker shortage and fuel shortage, it may be that some flights might be delayed or even totally cancelled if issues aren't resolved in good time.
