Is this chicken pox?!

Hello.

Below spots appeared on my sons hand in a cluster late last night that I noticed. He has a couple behind his knees and then singular ones on his arms/ shoulders.

I’ve kept him off nursery in case and they did have an outbreak there which is why I’m leaning towards it. He’s had a rotten cold and slight temp for the last week.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmm not sure. CP are pustules and literally spread in front of your eyes. Good idea to keep them off nursery just in case!

Maybe hand/foot and mouth.

Possibly, see if they blister.

If not, HFM?

I’d say more likely HFM which seems to be doing the rounds too!

It could be. Ds has chicken pox at the moment and the spots started off looking like this. If it is you will likely know in about 24 hours as the spots will spread massively and develop blisters. Could equally be hfm and the cold symptoms and temperatures beforehand could also indicate either. Good idea to keep him at home and see what happens. There's a lot of nasties going around at the moment unfortunately.

Not sure about HFM but pox definitely appear backs of knees and elbows. Anywhere warm like nappy area and skin creases. My money would be on chicken pox.

Could be. My 2 year old has hand, foot and mouth at the moment and his hands look like that though. It’s rife in October

No idea but my 5 year old ha suddenly come out with a few spots on one hand, one on another and a little cluster on her thigh. Somethings clearly going around.

Thanks everyone- I haven’t had any more spots come out anywhere. For hand foot and mouth what’s the progression? So far nothing near the mouth.

Gosh it’s ones thing after the other in this house. I’ve got an 8 week old so they’ll be taking it in tandem.

It might be that it doesn’t progress much further. My eldest had it and his mouth was covered in blisters for weeks and he was really unwell. My youngest who has it at the moment has a few spots near his mouth, pin pricks like in your photo on his bottom, hands and legs and a runny nose. Hasn’t got any worse since the initial spots came out. I think the spots are the final symptom
