Anyone had any dealings with personal injury lawyers?

Thinking of approaching one due to a fairly serious injury a family member sustained whilst coming out of a station. They are currently in hospital. Staff had no first aid box and were not interested one bit, according to a passerby who stayed and called for the ambulance.
Surely it must be legal to have a first aid kit? And the last part is what really gets to me.

I hope they are ok. Was it inside the station or on the pavement. I would expect station staff to have a first aider which you could check. If they have a serious injury would a first aid box help without a trained first aider. What are you considering to sue for. Was it negligence.
