Do you have a comfy sofa bed that comfortably sleeps two adults?

... if so, where's it from, please?
We had one from IKEA which was quite cheap and a bit flimsy for two people to sleep on.
We then 'upgraded' to a double sofa bed from MADE which is so narrow, and terribly uncomfortable.

We have moved away from family this year and we would like a sofa bed that can be comfortably used by visiting family or friends for a few nights at a time.

Sorry no advice but following and hopefully a bump.

Foolsrule · 19/10/2021 22:19

Used to have a Sofa Workshop one, it was great.

DentalWorries · 19/10/2021 22:20

Following as well. I’d like one that looks stylish as a sofa but none of them look particularly comfortable as a bed

no. tis too uncomfortable for me. (next, about 13 years old now. )

Fupoffyagrasshole · 19/10/2021 22:23

We got the IKEA day bed - think it’s Hemnes

Got a decent mattress for it rather than the standard

Not really suitable for an actual use as everyday sofa though i dont think..

Does it have to be your usual sofa?? Or is it going in a spare room

winteroversummer · 19/10/2021 22:24

Sofa Workshop do look wide and comfortable but they're all about £2500 more expensive than I'd like to pay Grin

Its going in spare room, which isn't huge

We have a good one from John Lewis - £1600 five years ago and still looks good and really comfy.

We've got (from eBay) a futon from the Futon Co. It's much more comfortable than our old Habitat sofa bed.

SylvanasWindrunner · 19/10/2021 22:26

We have the Hemnes. I've slept on it and it's really comfy. It's fine as an occasional sofa I think but probably not as your main one. We have it in the play room and it's fine there.

winteroversummer · 19/10/2021 22:27

Would the Hemnes sleep two adults comfortably do you think for a weekend here and there

We have a Hemnes and it’s significantly larger than we first thought. It takes a king size sheet when opened. We also bought a topper that goes across both so there’s not a gap between the mattresses.

MacaroniSaysShetlandPony · 19/10/2021 22:34

We also have a Hemnes - comfortable and good for 2 adults on occasional visits. Agree with other PPs - it’s not a great sofa but it’s fine in the playroom.

RobertsWonder · 19/10/2021 22:37

Yes, a dfs corner one that one edge folds out into a full size double. But being a corner sofa might be too big for your spare room if it's on the small side

idontlikealdi · 19/10/2021 22:38

Hermnes is fine as long as both adults aren't too tall because of the footplate. We also had the more expensive mattresses. Wasn't great for the grandparents as the one one day bed side had to climb over the other one to fo to the loo.

Rainbowshit · 19/10/2021 22:40

We have a hemnes but not in any way comfy as a sofa.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 19/10/2021 22:47

We used the hemnes as a sofa - you need big cushions across the back. Dd now uses it as a single bed then pulls it out for sleep overs - 3 dc or 2 adults fit as it takes a kingsize sheet when pulled out. It’s really comfy.

TheBitterBoy · 19/10/2021 22:47

We have an Ikea Farlov which is a very comfy sofa and a decent sized double bed (metal action frame with a good mattress. We also have the most expensive version of Lycksele which is a good bed, especially if you add a topper, but a fairly uncomfortable sofa.

greenlynx · 19/10/2021 23:08

We’ve had sofa from DFS in the previous house (no space for it in the current one). It’s ok for 2 people. Once our friends stayed for a weekend with their 2 y.o so 2 adults and a toddler. However they all were middle height and reasonably slim.

tothesea · 19/10/2021 23:10

I highly recommend Funky Futon we have their sofa bed. We paid bit extra for higher quality mattress and it is very comfortable.

Notlostjustexploring · 19/10/2021 23:11

We've got this one. www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/asarum-3-seat-sofa-bed-knisa-dark-grey-90430557/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping_feed&utm_content=free_google_shopping_clicks_Livingroomseating

It's a bit firm, but it's a reasonable size, and with a memory foam mattress topper it's very comfortable. And it stores a duvet, sheets and 4 pillows.

We've gone through a few sofa bed iterations now and this is the best we've found.

girlinglasses · 19/10/2021 23:17

@winteroversummer we got the hemnes day bed for our spare room (with the upgraded spring mattresses rather than the foam ones) and my parents in their 60s stayed in it for weeks at a time and said it was really comfy. I have also slept in it a few times and would say it's as comfy as lots of actual beds I have slept in and way comfier than any sofa bed I've ever experienced. Plenty of room for two people as well, really easy to pull in and out, and an impressive amount of storage in the drawers underneath. And about a 3rd of the cost of any half decent sofa bed. The only downside is that it's very much a day bed and not a sofa so wouldn't be useful if you needed it to work well as a sofa, but as a spare bed to not take up too much room when not in use I would recommend it 100%, you just need to make sure that there would be room to pull it out!

I sleep on this every night, have added a topper though.
