Is separate bedrooms an option?

BruceAndNosh · 19/10/2021 21:25

I use the 3m yellow ones when flying as I hate the engine and people noise

You do need to make sure you put them properly, roll them thinner, pop well into ear and hold in place until they expand fully.

Mangozesty · 19/10/2021 21:27

I've got some Bollsen ear plugs which are really good. Would definitely recommend.

TattiePants · 19/10/2021 21:50

I use the same yellow ones as @BruceAndNosh although I buy them in bulk from ScrewFix. I’ve worn earplugs every night for 20+ years and these are the best I’ve had.

userchange987 · 19/10/2021 21:52

£3 silicon ones on eBay (the pink balls that mould to your ears) have to squeeze them right in but they're amazing.

Sweetbabyrays · 19/10/2021 21:52

I like the waxy ones you warm up and mould them as they cool, I get mine from a tiny back in the dark ages type chemist in the village!

minipie · 19/10/2021 22:00

I like the foam ones - the slightly more cone shaped ones rather than the cylinder ones

As a pp said you need to roll them thin and then shove them in while thin and let them expand.

Suburbanqueen · 19/10/2021 22:02

Boots Muffles definitely

Brewandhoney · 19/10/2021 22:05

It also helps to reach over your head and lift the top of your ear whilst you put them in- gets them in properly, which ever you choose!

whatnumber · 19/10/2021 22:13

I use these for my small ears:

Mack's Unisex's Dream Girl Ear Plugs (50 Pair)

I find the ball ones stick to my hair and I don't I understand how to use the wax ones at all!

WhoWearsShortShorts · 19/10/2021 22:16

Hush plugz silicone earplugs you can get them on amazon or from home bargains

Spongeboob · 19/10/2021 22:20

Pharmacy wax ones. Twist two together into one for each ear. Put in the fridge until just before you wear them.

itsutterlyshit · 19/10/2021 22:21

Howard leight. They're pink and yellow foam ones. Their used in riggs and heavy duty plant sites. They're the only earplugs I'll use.

blueshiningsea · 19/10/2021 22:22

Boots wax ones, you can’t hear an earthquake!

GTAlogic · 19/10/2021 22:27

I got fed up with earplugs. I'd tried loads but found them uncomfortable. Now I have a Bluetooth sleeping mask with built in headphones and listen to thunder and rain through it. It doesn't block out the snoring but lessens it and gives me something else to listen to.

Gerwurtztraminer · 19/10/2021 22:29

Quies silcone earplugs. Drown out next doors middle of night screaming kids and downstairs rap music playing teenager.

Foam ones come out of my ears no matter how carefully I insert them and if wax ones come out in the night it's like getting chewing gum out of my hair.

Whoopsmahoot · 19/10/2021 22:54

I second Howard Leight laserlite ear plugs off eBay. Our marriage couldn’t survive without them!

GromblesofGrimbledon · 19/10/2021 22:58

It's worth the price to pay to have custom moulded earplugs made. You can get them done at any Specsavers that have a hearing clinic.

They make moulds to fit your ears exactly and then you choose which type of earplug you want. I chose the soft kind for sleeping in. I've had them ten years and still going strong.

Calyx72 · 19/10/2021 23:18

www.happyears.co/uk/

I love these.

KilledByWitches · 19/10/2021 23:37

Unfortunately no earplugs will block out a determined snorer as they max out at apps 40db and a half decent snorer is much louder. I recorded dh at 70db one night 😭

I use the Macks dream girl as recommended above, but mostly we have separate rooms otherwise we're both exhausted.

Notcontent · 19/10/2021 23:50

@GromblesofGrimbledon - are the custom moulded ones more comfortable? I ask because I use the foam ones occasionally but my ears get a bit sore from them.
