Hi. I am currently 1 stone over my healthy weight.
Its my Birthday in 5 weeks and I feel the best present I could give myself is to lose this weight which is getting me down.
Im quite fit and swim 3 times a week and walk 4miles daily...my vice is bread and pasta.

From yesterday I have decided to cut out all refined carbs and eat only high protein plus veg.
I'm going to up my 45 min swim to 6 days a week and use an exercise bike for 30mins daily.
I already drink 2litres of water.
With this plan is it possible?

I have found 1.25kg per week is possible, if also cutting alcohol along with carbs and following 16:8 intermittent fasting.

Would very easily creep back on again though if you don't have a maintenance plan...

It depends on how overweight you are. What’s your weight and height now?

Babybellblue · 19/10/2021 15:55

I'm 5ft 2 and 10st 10.

I think you can lose enough weight to feel better about yourself in 5 weeks.

It might not be a full stone but somewhere close.

Diet rather than exercise is key though. You do plenty of exercise already, doing more is just going to make you hungrier especially if you are limiting carbs.

Just eat well, tonnes of veg, limited carbs and sugar, don't snack at all and don't drink alcohol.

It sounds like it could be doable then.

I would switch some of your swimming for hiit instead.

There’s great support on the weight loss chat board.

Oh, and halve your portions. Especially if it's pasta and bread Grin?

The only way I lose weight is by measuring out / weigh stuff like that to keep below 1500 calories a day and the portions are tiny in comparison to what I'm capable of eating.

Mandalayblonde · 19/10/2021 16:03

So it would take BMI from 27.4 and overweight to 23 within goal. Would need serious dedication in terms of what you eat, but a great aim by Christmas if you don't quite make 5 weeks.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to have a look in weight loss chat.
I'm so shocked that I hit 45 and piled on a stone without any other habits changing. I'm determined to nip it in the bud before I get any bigger Sad

You could get close if you stuck to it but I'd take the view that by then you'll feel a lot better so stick with it nonetheless.

You could look at the Michael Moseley Fast800 diet.

Howmanysleepsnow · 19/10/2021 18:57

I’d guess 1-2lb a week, more if you also watched calories (2-4lb)
