Madresnetters and anyone else with experience of whole jamones, how should I cut it? Pic attached.
It’s not on the bone. I don’t gave a stand for it.

Really sharp knife and sort of shave thin slices from the cut end. On that one I'd go from middle to each end. Yum! Great gift!

saraclara · 19/10/2021 15:28

No advice. Just incredibly envious!

Slub · 19/10/2021 15:30

I had to google what a Jamon was as had never heard of it. Carve with a long sharp knife in straight strips - there are tutorials online but sorry I don't know how to link on the app.

No advice, but I’m now thinking about an episode of Two Doors Down Grin

Hire a meat slicer ?

Lunificent · 19/10/2021 15:34

Thanks all. There are only 2 of us in the house who will eat it so we’ll have to eat it every night for weeks!
I wonder how long it’ll last once it’s open?

What a random thing to just give somebody (unless there's context OP hasn't mentioned)

I need people like that in my life Grin

ponkydonkey · 19/10/2021 15:50

You can slice and freeze it too.... add to pasta sauces , risottos etc

Ages. As long as it's not cut. Once it's sliced it will go off quicker as obvs slices have more "surface" to attract external things to make it go off (air/damp etc)

Me too. 😂😂

Slice finely . I would get a vaccum packed thngy as you can slice and then keep for weeks if its vaccum packed ..Or give away. I tend to buy 150g at a time for 4 of us to eat with melon or in sarnis.. It will take you ages to get through that !

SpeckyWithTheGoodHair · 19/10/2021 19:38

I'd hold it upside down and slice it dramatically using a sword #nothelpful

ODFOgrinch · 22/10/2021 14:55

Am I the only one you thinks '... you know it...huh!' On hearing the word jamon?

CottonSock · 22/10/2021 14:57

We froze some of ours. But cutting it up was an effort. Needed a chainsaw

actiongirl1978 · 22/10/2021 14:59

We spend weeks eating ours at Xmas. We do have a pantry with a wooden window (so not sealed and v drafty but with mouse guard wire netting across the front) so it is much cooler than the kitchen. We just keep a teatowel over the top and shave a bit off each day.
