What can I send to my DF in hospital?

My DF (father) has been in hospital for about eight weeks, far away from home in a hospital which doesn't allow visitors.

He has been very, very sick and, on several occasions, we thought he wouldn't pull through. However, he is now improving slowly and was expecting to move to a hospital nearer home where we would be allowed to visit but he now needs to stay where he is for further treatment.

All he really wants is to be able to see everyone, but I am trying to think of a few things to send him to cheer him up a bit....

He is nil by mouth so no food. He likes sudoku but I know someone has already sent him a book in.....

So far, I've printed off some photos of the kids and I'm going to write about them on the back for him to look through, and the kids will make him cards to send.

Can anyone think of anything else that might cheer him up a bit....?

Does he like to read? Maybe a Kindle or a tablet like a Kindle Fire if he has WiFi access? If he's not tech savvy you could set it up in advance with books, apps, access to Netflix / Amazon Prime video etc and video calling etc so it's ready to go?

My dad has just got out of hospital and the one he was in had a virtual visiting team who you could arrange to take an iPad up and have an online face time visit. He might like this

Might he like a book of some other puzzles /sudoku variations?
