Faux Leather Leggings

So I bought some faux leather leggings from H&M they finally were delivered yesterday and I'm really not sure

I've never bought or tried on faux leather leggings, but I heard they're quite popular at the moment and good to have for autumn

Is there anything I should be looking out for that looks bad?

Also what do you style them with?

I'm a size 14, heavy legs but slim waist. The leggings are quite thick and fleeced so warm and comfortable, paid £17.99 so not their cheapest... but I don't want to look silly

Help!

Also, where would people usually wear these?

I love winter just so I can wear mine. Chunky jumper and boots, or dressed up with a shirt and high boots, or my favourite with trainers a hoodie and a pea coat. So much comfier than jeans and better than plain old leggings.

I've just bought the Spanx ones from very. They are an early birthday present as they were £97!! They do seem to hold my stomach on though I am impressed with them.

But I wear them with everything the poster above suggested. Treat them like jeans.

Hold your stomach on-does it usually fall off? Wink OP I love mine too. Agree treat them like jeans. So versatile and for dressing up or down. A nice top and heels for a night out or flat boots and jumper for everyday. I need to dig mine out, haven't worn them yet this year!

Can anybody recommend a pair for this 5ft1 woman please? Will I look daft in my late 40s wearing them?

nancybotwinbloom · 19/10/2021 19:02

@Stitchybitch79 I wish half of it would 🤣

ceepeeree · 19/10/2021 19:06

@middleager spanx have petite versions.
You absolutely won't look daft! Go for it!

DrWankincense · 19/10/2021 19:06

I'm 5'3" I got some from ASOS that fit nicely.
I'm also 44 and dgaf if I look daft to someone else. They are comfy and I like them Grin.
Same as others I wear with a long shirt, or a jumper or long t-shirt.
Varies between knee boots, ankle boots or trainers.
Versatile piece.

I have leggings and jeans style. Love them!

Usually wear a too from Silkfred. They have a great choice-casual and dressy

EmmalineC · 19/10/2021 19:16

I love mine! Big jumper and walking boots if I'm hiking, heels and a long sparkly top if dressing up. Super comfy and super warm.

BlackCakeyStuff · 19/10/2021 19:34

@nancybotwinbloom Do the Spanx ones have a proper gusset? The seam down the middle types fairly chafe one's nethers, I find.

DampSquidGames · 19/10/2021 19:59

I have lots of pairs and a few real leather pairs too. I wear mine with blouses and ankle boots. The length of the blouse depends on my weight.

Badgerloco · 19/10/2021 20:18

I’m 49. I don’t thnk there is a cut off age for wearing anything personally.

DampSquidGames · 19/10/2021 20:58

I’m 52 and love mine.

middleager · 19/10/2021 21:04

Thanks - off to investigate!

SaintDrogo · 19/10/2021 22:03

I ordered a pair last year and loved the look of them, but couldn’t hack the noise! DS told me i sounded like a scrunched up bin bagBlush
Do other people have this issue, or was it just due to my thighs rubbing together?!

PlanetTeaTime · 20/10/2021 21:32

Thanks so much everyone, I'll definitely keep them. Tried them on again today and they're so comfortable and warm, I feel like I need to give them a chance

I don't think they look good on many people, certainly not me. I'm on a holiday park at the moment and there were a mod couple must have been plus 70, she looked fucking great so I would never rule them out.

2020nymph · 20/10/2021 23:06

Do you have a link @PlanetTeaTime?

Wearing them with a Denim shirt and trainers or jumper and boots seems to be the popular look around here.

They roll down over my stomach. Am livid. Wore them and after about an hour of sitting standing going about my business I sat down and felt the dreaded fucking flllwwwmmmp where they rolled. Bastards.
