I am a married mum of a 14 year old girl who we home educate as she has additional needs. I struggle with bad days like many and have many people in my life but I am pants at reaching out. Thought I would try a new way of being in touch with others xx

Hey. Not sure if you're new but welcome to mumsnet. The forum of madness (sometimes haha)

Do you get any downtime for yourself?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/10/2021 19:54

Hello! Don't post anything on AIBU would be my advice. Chat is pretty safe though.

Jar81 · 18/10/2021 19:55

Hi I am new yeah. Think I might of been a member when I was pregnant or when dd was a baby but can't remember that far back lol. I have too much free time to be honest. I read, do crafts and go out for walks when I can xx

AIBU is a section of the forum where most threads get a bit...heated! Fun to read, but bruising to participate.

If you browse through the list of topics, you might find you enjoy the Arts and Crafts section, or chat. There's an extremely well-informed special needs board, and there's a home Ed one as well I think.

Anyway, hello! Hope you've had a good day today.

CovidPassQuestion · 18/10/2021 20:06

Hi, there's a Home Education board on here you might like to peruse!

MushMonster · 18/10/2021 20:08

Hi, nice to meet you.
AIBU, am I being unreasonable? Part of mumsnet. It can get quite interesting at times!
There are lots of arguments going on in each thread in this site, but you also get lots of different points of view, and some new knowledge pops in time to time. Also, you can connect with people in your very own situation, so they understand you!

teddingtonbear · 18/10/2021 20:10

Hi lovely theres lots of people on here that you can chat to and relate to. There's many topics to look through also, I'm more of a lurker. I hope you have a lovely evening. Thanks

Jar81 · 18/10/2021 21:18

Ah thanks everyone, I will spend sometime having a look through everything xxx

As you say you are into crafts, are you doing anything for Halloween? I have started thinking today about the food. I am thinking of a triffle with lime jelly, and some nasty things inside. I may put some red colouring in the cream.
But not sure if I will decorate. I may be tempted if it is something simple.

Jar81 · 18/10/2021 22:03

We have just ordered some gravestones for the garden as our daughter wants to make it into a grave yard. We also ordered a thing that looks like a hole in the floor. Your trifle idea sounds ace. Halloween is our daughters fav thing of the year. Have you got your pumpkins yet?

OP posts:
MushMonster · 18/10/2021 22:07

No, not sure I will get pumpkins.
I love to carve them, but my DD hates it LOL
She does not like emptying it, specially the peeps. And even if I do it, she is not so fond of the carving either. I may get little ones this year, I do quite like them. They come in more colours and shapes.
Our garden is out of boundaries at moment, as there are plenty of spiders there! Quite in keep with the theme LOL.
We have let the grass grow so it seeds, and lots of this huge spiders have their webs around. I got one in my hair the other day.....yuck!

Jar81 · 18/10/2021 22:12

Oh no, I hate spiders. We love to carve pumpkins, our dd never used to like it but does now. I love the variety you can buy now, we had a white one last year. We lost my dad back in June so I am trying really hard to focus on the nice things we have coming up xx

It is very hard xxxx

MushMonster · 18/10/2021 22:22

It is a hollow empty feeling.
Focussing on making good memories is the way to go.

Jar81 · 18/10/2021 22:23

It is, its knocked my mental health for six but I have referred myself for some therapy and joined here to chat/find new things to keep my mind busy. I am grateful for the company xx

You will always find someone to chat with here. And almost any subject under the sun.
Some seem to love arguing more than chatting!
Take care and have a good night.
I see you around Jar

Jar81 · 19/10/2021 09:49

Thanks for taking time out to talk to me xx

MushMonster · 24/10/2021 19:18

Hi, how are you doing? What have you been up to this weekend?
Have you found your way around in MNs?
Hopefully you have found your cup of tea in the craft section?

Jar81 · 25/10/2021 08:24

Hi, thanks for checking in on me. I have had a better week with just a few blips rather then full bad days. I have had a nosy about but not posted else anywhere yet. How are you xx

OP posts:
MushMonster · 25/10/2021 14:55

Great to hear you are having better days! Smile
Feeling a but tired because I did not sleep well last night, otherwise I had a good day.
I am childless for a few days, so I am thinking of heading off to get the pumpkins today, and sort the house (we have changed floors and new built in wardrobe, so in a mess!) for when she gets back. It should look much tidier and prettier with the work we have done, and then festive with some decor.
Let's see what I find in the shop to bake/ cook for Sunday! Xx

Iputthetrampintrampoline · 25/10/2021 17:48

Thought I would jump in and say HI too! I was thinking if you could maybe add what part of the country roughly you are in then it might be helpful to maybe exchange information,or get ideas for days out or general life tips from people in your surrounding areas,This helped me in finding out so much about my area I never knew from other mumsnetters and i had lived there a while, also i heard of activities happening i wouldnt have had a clue about too, Chat is a really friendly page as is relationships which is ultra supportive, AIBU is fabulous but often devisive and blunt but great fun! Hope you find your way round and enjoy!

Jar81 · 25/10/2021 17:55

@MushMonster all sounds like a good plan. Hope u sleep better tonight xxx
@Iputthetrampintrampoline I am in Cumbria, I am a chatter so love finding others to chat to xx
