For me it is
Babysham I dont know if I have spelt it right

Angel delight especially Butterscotch which I used to love as a kid.

Vienetta
Cinzano bianco Admittedly I've not had this since I was 14 and my an would let me drink it ( probably to wind my mum up)

Vol au vonts 🤮

I can't say I've noticed the change in Angel Delight or Viennetta.

I'd agree about Campbell's meatballs. They are now chicken balls and taste nothing like the original.

I'm now scared of how bad Dream Topping might have become, I was planning an old-style (70s) trifle for Christmas.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 19/10/2021 07:30

Enid Blyton. I loved The Faraway Tree, The Magic Wishing Chair and all the Famous Five books when I was little. Read them to my kids and couldn't get over how boring, trite, sexist and class-ridden they are.
My kids loved them.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 19/10/2021 07:33

Last Christmas we bought a gigantic tin of Cadbury Roses as I was feeling nostalgic.

We threw them away after tasting a few. Cloyingly sweet, oily and just disgusting.

Mr Men stories. I loved them as a kid. Can’t stand reading them to my 2 now, find them really irritating!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 19/10/2021 07:37

You're wrong about Vienetta. It's my guilty pleasure. It's still glorious.

Sherbet dib dabs for me. They're just wrong now.

EerilyDisembodied · 19/10/2021 07:39

Chocolate Angel Delight for me, I never did like the butterscotch one.

I agree about the Faraway Tree books, I loved these as a child, hated them as an adult.

SallyOMalley · 19/10/2021 07:39

Cadburys creme eggs - too sickly-sweet. And very small.

TheChip · 19/10/2021 07:40

Vienneta, yes. It seemed like such a delicious posh treat as a child. I bought some for my kids at Christmas and they were not impressed. Neither was I.

Coco pops. They now taste like cardboard.

50ShadesOfCatholic · 19/10/2021 07:44

Milly Molly Mandy. Loved them when I was little. Could barely force myself through five pages when reading to DD. Most tedious stories ever. Took to hiding the books.

SomethingToldTheWildGeese · 19/10/2021 07:46

Enid Blyton books (famous five in particular)

vampirethriller · 19/10/2021 07:47

Bernard Matthews turkey sausages. My grandad used to cook them for me but they're absolutely not the same.

ChaToilLeam · 19/10/2021 07:48

Terry’s Chocolate Orange. It used to be such a lovely Christmas treat, now it’s like chewing candle wax. 😭

MintJulia · 19/10/2021 07:49

The Famous Five. I must have been a weird child.

Oh definitely Viennetta, it's disgusting isn't it?! I do wonder if quite a lot of the foods we had as kids have been improved in terms of nutrients and that's come at the cost of enjoyment 😂 there's a few Birdseye things that I remember being amazing that are now pretty meh at best.
I'd like to think it's my tastebuds which have improved, and that I was just brought up eating a right load of crap convenience foods in the 1980s.

Viennetta is indeed horrible, but when I first had it, it was in a world of Mr Kipling's cakes and tinned fruit with evaporated milk. Once I tasted home made cakes, fresh cream, fresh fruit and proper gelato, I never looked back.

Just use fresh cream and proper custard. Everyone will thank you for it.

Lol me too absolutely loved the as a child so repetitive 😂
Musthurry · 19/10/2021 07:53

With the exception of a few dishes and products: Marks & Spencer's food.

Lived abroad for a while, missed it, came back and sampled it, and either our tastes have changed or they are using lower quality ingredients ...I think it is the latter... as it didn't taste at all how I remembered it. A lot of it seemed fattier and saltier and not very flavourful.

Musthurry · 19/10/2021 07:54

Btw I enjoy Winnie the Pooh precisely (imho anyway!) because it is not saccharine. The Disney film was saccharine, but not the original books.

GlumyGloomer · 19/10/2021 07:54

Yes to Angel delight, also, smarties. It was clearly the E numbers that made them taste so good, modern smarties are nothing like as addictive that's a good thing. And they changed the packaging so you can't fire the little plastic lid around the room. (The one that would be a choking hazard for under 3's, damn it adult perspective!)

Definitely. All of the sugar and E numbers have been removed from everything. Now it all just states of sadness. Even full fat coke is horrible now. Sad

*'Double decker needs renamed single decker
Have you seen the size of Wagon Wheels lately!?

They definately wouldn't fit a wagon, more like 'miniature garden cart wheels.' And creme eggs...don't get me started on those Shock

CarbonMonoxideParty · 19/10/2021 08:38

Time outs. Completely different now.

Frosties and coco pops. Not sweet enough anymore. Used to be great for a hangover. Not any more !

TroysMammy · 19/10/2021 08:39

Arctic Roll. Got awfully excited when they brought it back then my world came crashing down.

Tinned hamburgers in gravy.

Spaghetti Hoops. Every so often I'd buy a tin thinking "I haven't had these for ages". Then the shocking realisation hits that I haven't had them for ages was because they are disgusting.

I now have a list of food not to buy.

DelurkingAJ · 19/10/2021 08:44

Archers and lemonade. Had one in a moment of uni nostalgia and very much wished I hadn’t. So sweet it was almost unbearable.
