How do you help your body get over an unhealthy weekend? I know 'detoxing' isn't really a thing..

I've had too much fun this weekend. Day out in a big city, dinner in a nice restaurant, went to see a show, wnt to a lovely pub for the afternoon/evening and then partner (we don't live together)cooked great food last night.

All of this involved food and (lots of) wine. Grin . Today I feel bloated, groggy, sore! If I do a heavy night of food and drink normally it is just the one night. I feel I must be about ten stone heavier!

I've decided lots of water, only very healthy low cal food for a couple of days at least... green tea...

Anything else?

Fresh air, a walk, healthy veg, water, aspirin.

dudsville · 18/10/2021 15:17

Oh, and a shower and a nap!

Stitchybitch79 · 18/10/2021 15:23

Fresh air sounds a good idea! May go for a walk/,run. Bloody horrid weather here though!

The horrid weather will help - blow away the cobwebs, then you can get home to a lovely hot cup of tea and a bath, then a nap.

Think about what a lovely time you had, then be a bit gentle with yourself. It sounds like you had a brilliant day and it was a bit of a one off (assuming you're not a raging alcoholic hornbag- kudos if you are!)

Your body will do it's thing and make you feel better. Meanwhile lots of water, double berocca, a bracing walk in the autumn air and a good sleep.

PS can we all come next time

MsLizard · 18/10/2021 15:42

Hydration drinks.
Activated charcoal supplements.
Green smoothies.

That's what I've been on the last couple of days after a few days away!

EllieSattler · 18/10/2021 16:29

Wouldn't go low cal, if your body has been punished it doesn't want to be starved afterwards! Eat plenty of nutritious food, drink plenty of water, sleep, get some fresh air.

Lots of very strong peppermint tea too (Twinings, use 2 bags)

OverByYer · 18/10/2021 19:02

Healthy food, berrocca and exercise

A swim (or just floating about) and if possible a sauna or steam room after, then some food, used to make me feel tons better when I was hungover.

Not quite the same as I don't drink, but I do a laid back maintenance version of 5:2 where I don't worry about going over on the weekends.
We have Sunday roast & pudding & chocolates at my parents so I definitely overindulge.
Mondays are a v low cal day for me and I really look forward to it after being a bit bloated on Sunday.

Stitchybitch79 · 18/10/2021 19:26

I do a version of 5:2 quite often so that may work!
Good idea about peppermint tea, I do have some of that :)
jovial of course if I can cope with a next time Grin
It was a lot of fun. But not something I'll plan on repeating often :)
