Mine are:
Croatia and Turkey. Took my DF on a cruise and the places I wasn’t looking forward to visiting were in Croatia and Turkey. They ended up being the parts I enjoyed the most and have revisited on holiday. We stopped off in Istanbul, Izmir and Split and they bowled me over with amazing sights, scenery, markets, people.
Sedona in Arizona. The place I was most looking forward to seeing was the Grand Canyon but someone we got talking to said we should stop off in Sedona if we had time. The scenery was incredible. Like how I imagine Mars might look. The red rocky landscape at dusk was one of the most amazing sights I’ve seen.
A murmuration of starlings. I thought it would be interesting to see but didn’t expect it to be so incredible. Like watching a choreographed airshow.
A Finnish forest in December. It was like being on the set of Narnia. The trees were like snowy sculptures and the total silence was spookily wonderful. The light was surreal too just before dusk.
