Hi I'm off to Liverpool very soon for a few days and I'd like some recommendations of places to visit / restaurants to try please. It's my first time visiting and I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks!

Walker Gallery and Museum of Anthropology next door
Maritime Museum and Tate Gallery on river
Take a ferry across the Mersey
Visit The Cavern
Take a train out to Port Sunlight and the Lady Leverhulme Art Gallery
Take the hop on/hop off bus round the city and visit both cathedrals.

The Walker has a fab exhibition on at the moment. Calderstones Park is beautiful, and Allerton Road is a nice afternoon spent wandering and pottering. Proper veg shops and some lovely bars and cafés. Penny Lane Wine Bar is lovely.

Sudley House and the surrounding fields are a gem. Pumpkin farms on The Wirral. Not Liverpool exactly but only 30 mins out - West Kirby is a nice day. Great fish and chips at Marigold's.

Lark Lane.

The Egg cafe in town is great.

Oh so much! I haven't lived there for a few years so im not up to speed with the restaurants now, but in terms of things to do there are loads of fab museums (I love the maritime museum, the slavery museum on the top floor is great as well). The newer museum down by the docks is apparently great as well.

The Williamson Tunnels are something a bit different. Not too far out of town but I think they only do tours on certain days.

The two cathedrals are worth a visit even for a heathen like myself. In the Anglican you can pay a few quid to go up the tower and get a great view over the city.

Lots of lovely parks around the city if you want to go for a walk.

liverpoolwarmuseum.co.uk/ Is great if you’re interested in 2nd world war history. Mowgli for food!
