4 year old Night terrors

Hello, DS has started having night terrors. Is there anything I can do to help him not have them. Admittedly they do happen when he falls asleep on the floor and I have to move him but it was never a problem before. Is it something he will just grow out of?

Thank you

Hi there. My son had these for a year or so. Lasted about 20 mins they were awful! Like scene from poltergeist. I just stayed with him to reassure him
Pediatrician said its totally normal....in fact about age 7 they stopped totally.
He has no memory of them
Very well adjusted 12 yr old now.

They often occur when over tired or unwell. Why do you need move him off the floor?

If you can clock how long after he has fallen asleep they happen you can disturb the sleep cycle a little bit before. You sort of half wake them just enough to stir them and it resets the cycle.

It helped Ds for a bit but in truth we just rode out the storm. He couldn't remember anything it was just us who were traumatised seeing it.
