Anyone bought a car from Cazoo?

KimDeals · 17/10/2021 19:42

Sorry can’t see a car chat area…

Spotted the car I am after on autotrader and the seller is Cazoo…

I’ve only bought cars (three in my whole life!) by going to the garage, road testing it, trading in the car I’ve got and the job is done.

Just feels odd to spend about 20k online on a car without seeing it (my brain is hard wired now to go see the car!)

Any experience? Reassure me or warn me!

Thank you!

I've got a family member who works for them and I know they are a reliable company but have never bought from them myself.

ShangPie · 17/10/2021 19:58

Yes, we just bought one last month. We live rurally and didn’t have time to go out to the dealers (ironically this would have been faster due to the delays, but it all worked out in the end)

The purchase was straightforward but there were some hiccups that Customer Services helped to fix - the car took longer to come than we expected, so they provided us with a way better than the car we bought courtesy car; there was a very minor issue that they didn’t pick up until the final-final check, so fixing that delayed the delivery again…

However, they were really proactive to help out and generally offered a good service. We bought their 4 year warranty and they threw in an extra free MOT due to the delays.

On top, they have a 7 day no questions return policy, so if you hate it when it comes, just send it back!

Thanks @jobsagudden, good to hear! I don’t doubt their credibility, I think I’m weirded out by buying a car without seeing it!

I'm looking for a new car (I crashed mine yesterday and need one asap) and cazoo looks a good option, although must admit I am nervous to buy one online!

@ShangPie thanks, that’s really interesting to hear. I am also semi rural and getting to the actual cars is a mammoth task. I will look more into the 7 day returns policy and how that works with the trade-in (can you roll back on the whole deal) - thanks again!

@Twospaniels Christ what a nightmare!!

So after speaking to a friend who has bought one online, I think I'm going to bite the bullet. I live rurally and the garages are too far, and I need a car to get to work and the DC to school. Have you decided on a car OP?

MyGirlDaisy · 17/10/2021 22:53

DS bought from them. Excellent service, car was exactly as described etc. He is very happy with it and preferred it to all the haggling with a main dealer.

KimDeals · 17/10/2021 22:56

@MissCruellaDeVil oh nice one - yea I’ve picked the car I want I think - I road tested one on the weekend but it didn’t have sat nav nor a few things that I want… the. Last night the same car popped up on Autotrader with the bits I want and in the colour I want… so I’m tempted! I think I’ll ring them tomorrow and go through it with them, see how I feel then.

It’s hard to do without seeing the car!! Do you know exactly what you’re after?

Oh good to hear! Actually speaking of which, is there any opportunity to haggle??

Not Cazoo but Cinch so similar set up. Easy as pie - ordered the car, paid a deposit, finance went through, car delivered. It was in great condition, spotless inside.
Best car buying experience I’ve had!

AdobeWanKenobi · 17/10/2021 23:07

I imagine from a consumer rights perspective you’re better off buying a car from the likes of cazoo etc as distance selling gives you a lot more protection than walking into a garage forecourt.

Bbub · 17/10/2021 23:07

You can't haggle with Cazoo, no.

One thing about the price is that it went up after I first looked at it. After researching this I think the price goes up if it gets loads of clicks. Or it may be just for you so try deleting cookies/go on with a different device to see the price.

I am very happy with my car though and the service. There were some hiccups but all sorted by a good customer service team, and they gave me free 3 Yr warranty to compensate. The 7 day a return gives all the assurance you need in case you change your mind when it arrives.

Also when handing in my part ex car they didn't check it too thoroughly which I was greatful for. I had probably over estimated its condition and was expecting to pay extra but the woman who came to do the drop off was like all cheery like "it'll do!"

MissCruellaDeVil · 17/10/2021 23:23

I know roughly, I want another Range Rover, just not sure which one to go for, I definitely think I need a cheaper model this time, as with my new job I've taken quite a pay cut. I've been looking at the Velar which is a little smaller than my old car, but still has lots of the similar features.
However. there's also a very beautiful Audi Q3 with less miles, lots of similar features and a smaller price tag I'm tempted by. The only downside is I've never driven one so won't know what it's like to drive.

KimDeals · 18/10/2021 00:28

@MissCruellaDeVil aagh your situation is a bit like mine! - I’ve a freelander 2, it needs to go. I’ve also changed jobs and took a pay cut so need to be careful. The evoke felt too little when I finally drove one. The discovery sport is a food size but not overwhelmed with love for its driving feel, felt a bit heavy.

The guy got me to drive a VW Tiguan and I loved it - totally threw me! But the boot just isn’t big enough (bikes and dog and kids shite).

You need to get a spin in a Q3 somehow!

OP posts:
MissCruellaDeVil · 18/10/2021 07:05

Yes the evoke is definitely too small. The discovery sport looks a lot less stylish than the others which puts me off slightly, but I could afford it.
DH's colleague has a Q3 so DH is going to ask if I can have a look at it tonight! I've just looked at some VW cars and they look pretty nice. the touraeg looks bigger, would that fit everything in?

KimDeals · 18/10/2021 07:56

@MissCruellaDeVil yep, agree with you! I haven’t tried the Touraeg - this is the problem with online car shopping, really can’t skip on testing the model out!
The Audi Qs are all lovely - you need to try the 5 too Smile good luck tonight!
What about the BMW suv series - I always forget the letter range!! But they are similar ballpark & costs?

petalpower · 18/10/2021 09:05

I’ve got a Q3. Lovely car but the boot isn’t huge.

KimDeals · 18/10/2021 09:18

Car I’m after is no longer available!! That’s the end of that for now!
