Silicon earring backs

Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but I don’t have pierced ears so I have no idea about this stuff…
Dd bought some stud earrings from Claire’s. They have the standard butterfly backs and also some silicone (or plastic?) backs as well.
Are these to wear or are they just packaging? And if they are to wear are they worn as well as or as an alternative to the silver ones?

She had a slight reaction to some previous earring backs so I’m curious about looking into what options there are.

Claires even sells non metal backs. Why not have a look online and see if they look similar

Ah - On their website it says they to stop you loosing earrings. So I guess they can’t be worn as an alternative?

Yes they can be an alternative. I suppose all earring backs are to stop you losing earrings. What do they look like? Can you link to them?

I use them in addition to my butterfly backs on my expensive earrings as an extra measure to stop the backs falling off.

They're really just for packaging I think, but I use them instead of the metal butterfly backs as they're more comfortable and they don't cause any irritation or reaction to my skin.

They are packaging but I use them. Then I bought a big bag of silicone backs off eBay, much better imo
