Holiday in the rain!

Any tips for what to do on a UK holiday with 3 under 5 when the forecast is solid rain for a week? We have waterproofs so can brave the weather for a bit, we are planning on taking lego, games etc but their attention span is approximately 10 seconds so they rush through everything. Thank you for any ideas!!

Don’t go?

Ilikewinter · 16/10/2021 21:43

Where are you going to?

Was once stuck in a caravan for a week when dc came down with a bug. Dvd player and cheap films. Asda have a pound shelf!
Buggy and rain covers...
Sit in ice cream shop...

Going to Wales. I would cancel happily but the kids are excited and extended family are going! We can always come home early if it is really bad!

Cinema
Swimming
Forest walks as they are bit more sheltered

Whereabouts in Wales? It's a fairly big area! 😆

Brollywasntneededafterall · 16/10/2021 21:50

When we got wet (soaked) in Wales we found an amusement arcade.. Dc loved it!!

DDivaStar · 16/10/2021 21:51

I think just find out as much as you can about the area so you know exactly what your options are. This is why I .tend to book a holiday park with a swimming pool and entertainment on site.

Where in Wales?

Cutemob · 16/10/2021 21:54

Softplay, museums, butterfly House/indoor tropical zoo/aquarium, pottery painting, caves. Not potholing obviously! But look for indoor attractions. Train ride. Unfortunately it does get expensive. As PP said arcades are quite good for a couple of hours on the penny push machines. I know North Wales have a fair amount of indoor touristy things as it does rain a lot.

DDivaStar · 16/10/2021 21:57

Alot of museums are free in Wales....

Anglesey. We have been a lot before so we know the sea zoo, butterfly house etc but ideas for in the house to entertain them some of the time would be great! DD is disabled and doesn’t always cope with indoor attractions that are dark or noisy

Portmerion is great, I went in the rain

Rockandgrohl · 16/10/2021 22:08

Fins a charity shop...give them a couple of quid each and let them pick their own stuff...games/dvds/toys etc! There are plenty of trains in n.wales. there's a good pick your own fruit/veg place in Anglesey too that would entertain them if they had there waterproofs on!

immersivereader · 16/10/2021 22:10

There used to be a sealife centre there

Greyhedge · 16/10/2021 22:13

The charity shop idea is a good one - thank you!

Our holiday tradition is to buy something to wear on the holiday from the charity shop just off the ferry!!
Dc love mooching about the shop!

Roll of wallpaper lining paper, some large thick crayons, get them each to lie down on the floor and the others draw around their shape, then all colour it in.

Take a box of chalks, there might be a patio where they could do chalk drawings, all easily cleaned up afterwards!
