How does it work at walk in?

I live with my sister who recently had a cough - she did pcr no covid and went to docs and it was a chest infection so needed antibiotics.

I then caught the cough have done lateral flows everyday, no positive result. It has got to the point now where I’m sure I need to go to walk in tomorrow for antibiotics as I’m starting to become really ill.

The problem is I’m worried they will ask for a negative pcr test before they see me and I haven’t done one. I know I should’ve and I really don’t want a lecture, I just can’t afford to isolate and miss work and it seemed clear that it was the cough my sister brought home. Does anybody please know if they will ask for proof of a negative pcr test? I’m really worried they will and I will then have to isolate and miss work.

Sorry pressed post too soon.

I’m worried I will have to isolate, miss work, and delay seeing a doctor. I have had chest issues previously and don’t want to wait much longer as I am becoming quite ill with it now.

if you have covid symptoms you are supposed to get a PCR test. So be prepared for you to be asked why you haven't had one. But I think it wouldn't be ethical for them to leave you I'll?

Putting that aside Have you called 111 yet or your gp? I'm not medical but If not this is what you need to do. Maybe they can prescribe antibiotic over the phone without a face to face consultation?

I don't think they won't treat you because you haven't had a test- surely people have been I'll with covid and taken to hospital before they have been diagnosed.

Hope you feel better soon

You should do a pcr test on your next day off and my results were back in 18 so no loss of earnings

Book a PCR test tonight for tomorrow. If your symptoms become worse contact the 111 service.

I was admitted to hospital last weekend and they did a covid test there and then on me, not a lateral flow but more accurate, which was positive. Then did a PCR on the spot too. (I was already awaiting my pcr result)

Get a PCR. There's financial help if yoh do have to isolate. But you can't rely on LFT and you need to ensure you don't have covid.

And ring 111, they'll be able to put you in touch with out of hours.

LIZS · 16/10/2021 21:00

Call 111 first, there may be an out of hours gp .

Do you actually have an infection or do you just have a cough?

You should do a PCR before you go to the GP or walk in to be honest.

Unless it's a serious infection, as in unless you're genuinely concerned you can't breathe for example, you should wait until you get a PCR result.

Nice.
Not been bothered to do pcr though nee cough caught from your sister abs know you want to take it to the walk in centre.

Has it not occurred to you the reason you are getting more unwell is br Use this IS actually Covid ?

fairynick · 17/10/2021 21:39

@Helenluvsrob you either haven’t read or haven’t understood my post.

Thank you for all of the replies, I know I was wrong to not do a pcr. I ended up ringing 111 who put me in touch with an out of hours and now on antibiotics, so all has been sorted. Feeling even worse now though so may be an a&e job tomorrow if it gets worse again due to an existing condition.
