Lidl pretzels...

...from the bakery section. I've just discovered them and they're so so good! I'm literally having a pretzel and wine for dinner as DH is out and DS feasted on sushi and feels sick so here we are.

Anything else I should try? Never really shop at Lidl and no idea why I thought I'd get one but I'm bloody glad I did!

I bought one and didn’t like the salt on top. Like the sainsburies ones better.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 16/10/2021 20:05

They're great with a dippy egg as you can tear bits off and dip it in.

I think the salt made it. But I've not tried any others...I'll do some research.

Dipped into a baked Camembert is perfection!

Ylvamoon · 16/10/2021 20:10

They are even better with ready salted butter!

Mol1628 · 16/10/2021 20:10

Mmm I love Lidl pretzels. I love the salt on top.

The ultimate brownie from the bakery is also amazing.

The salt is what makes it surely?
Mol1628 · 16/10/2021 20:13

Correct!

ElephantBetta · 16/10/2021 20:16

I don't think I'd enjoy one that much without the salt 'bursts' Grin

Camembert....genius.

I agree that the salt makes it! Have a bit of chilli jam with the Camembert OP you won't regret it!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2021 21:44

The salt belongs on a traditional Laugenbretzel (DH is from the area they come from) - he has his with butter and a mug of milk.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/10/2021 21:45

It's probably the only reason I go to Lidl. I don't eat them but DD and dh love them.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 16/10/2021 21:59

Salted butter is the best - slice the fat bits and stuff it in.
I practically lived on them when I was on an internship in Germany. They were about 50p from the bakery in the tram station on the way to work.

Also in Lidl - Christmas stuff - mini stollen in particular. Lebkuchen with jam.

BluTangClan · 16/10/2021 22:04

I reckon the croissants are the best you can get in this country.
As a pp said, the ultimate chocolate brownie.
Chocolate filled doughnuts.
Cheese twists.
Cheese topped rolls.
I can feel my arteries clogging.

I work for Lidl. Early shifts when the baking is happening is absolute hell, no matter how much I eat before work, the smell always makes me starving!

The croissants and brownies are great too. They defrost the brownies before putting them on the shelf but you can buy a whole frozen tray if you like.

InnPain · 17/10/2021 10:53

I also found them a bit salty for my liking but a big fan of the Lidl bakery in general

timtam23 · 17/10/2021 11:09

The Portuguese custard tarts, mmmm...so delicious
