Can you get a smart watch that does the following...

DS is nearly 11 and wears an old Fitbit as he's really in to checking the time and checking steps (he's autistic).

I'd like to get him a more up to date smart watch that I can also set reminders / alerts to come up for things such as 'music lesson after school' etc - trying to encourage a bit of independence on executive functioning skills that he struggles with.

He also wants water proof as he swims a lot and not too child like.

Is there such a thing??

How much do you want to spend?

There are plenty of smart watches available that are waterproof.

The alerts may be a bit tricky, unless he has a smartphone. I think it alerts the watch from the phone, so you'd need to be close enough for them to 'talk' to each other.

I have a Fitbit Versa 3, and previously had a Versa Lite. It has an app on it called 'Agenda'.

An Apple Watch would do those things

How about this one ? buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/711488

I'm not sure the kid garmin would be the best option in the garmin range, any of the real garmin trackers let you set reminders on the watch as awell in the app (although setting the text label is a lot easier in the app)

You'd not need to be with the phone all the time for the alarms, just synchronise when you are.

Thanks all - yes, he has a phone but it stays at home when he's a school and we could do with alerts on his phone when he's a school to remind him of things such as what is happening after school - he gets stressed when he forgets etc.

With the garmin, it sounds like the phone could be at home and still send notifications??

No idea about the Jnr (it does do some different things, but it's even more unlikely that it's phone required!), but yes, this is default behaviour of any of the main line garmin trackers.

Would he be actually allowed it at school?

He wears his Fitbit and it's fine. He goes to a SEN school so they are pretty flexible about things that help. It would be good for him to start taking the lead on his meds and things too. He's very smart but lacks executive functioning skills so anything to help on that front is a bonus for them too.
