Morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cup of tea, in silence. It's proper silence too, other than the odd bird, very few car sounds from the main road! Bliss 😊

Dd2's alarm has just gone off & dd1's is set for 8:30. We're off to look round a potential A-Level college for dd1 this morning. Then heading to town for a few things. I might pick up few fillers for their reusable Advent calendars too.

I want to nip to one of the yarn shops in town, if I remember, to pick up yarn for some funky socks for dd1. & go in the works to look at their Christmas craft stuff.

Not sure what's for tea yet. Dd2 quite often requests curry on a Saturday evening. Whatever it is, will probably be accompanied by a glass of wine for me.

I'll probably finish dd1's crochet ghost once we're all showered and settled for the evening.

What about you lovely lot? Anyone up to anything much? :)

Very little. DH out all day for a football away day. I've just had a bacon sandwich and about to pop out to pick up a prescription and a Hermes parcel. Pedicure this afternoon. Going to feel very silly walking out in sandals!

Have started watching Pose on iPlayer so might catch up with a couple of episodes. Very much not a DH thing!

peaceanddove · 16/10/2021 12:19

DH was up and out early to play golf and DD2 stayed over at a friend's, so I have the house myself. Had a long lie in and still in my dressing gown and on my second mug of coffee.

Going to jump in the shower now and then do a general tidy up and a quick clean of the loos as our cleaner couldn't come yesterday.

Tonight we're going OutOut to a lovely restaurant with my lovely cousin and her DH. Really looking forward to getting properly dressed up x

SydneyCarton · 16/10/2021 12:26

The DDs (7 and 5) are doing something sciencey with test tubes of coloured water, and DS (3) is having a bath, also in coloured water Grin. DP is watching Iron Man and doing his fantasy football team. I’m supervising the bath and planning lunch, which will be some leftover fried rice, jerk chicken, maybe a quiche and some salad.

Weather is cold and drizzly here so probably won’t head out today. Putting away laundry and changing the bed is going to be the highlight I think!

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/10/2021 12:28

Had a lovely lie in. DD is with her dad for the weekend, just been to the butchers and the farm shop, couldn't decide between steak or venison for tea so we'll be having both! DH has some building work to do in the garden and I have plans with my kindle, a box of coffee creams and the poorly dcat who had emergency surgery this week. I'm actually feeling relatively unstressed for the first time in longer than I can remember Smile

Weedsorwishes · 16/10/2021 12:45

Love these threads!

We've had a quiet morning, just made homemade sausage rolls for lunch then we are off to a national trust place this afternoon.

Home by around 5, tacos for tea, then evening with glass of mulled wine and watching TV with DH

Whattheduck · 16/10/2021 13:04

Dropped Dd at her dance school she’s staying at a friends tonight so won’t see her now until tomorrow
Took the dog for a walk then went to Costa with Dh
Dh is going to watch the football this afternoon so will drop him off then he’s going out with friends after the match
I’m going to batch cook some meals for next week and make a cake then catch up on some programs I’ve recorded might crack open a bottle of wine too

TheBestSpoon · 16/10/2021 13:13

Toddler DS has just dropped his nap, so he slept in until 8am. Grin Then we had a Tesco delivery (very exciting for DS), and DH took DS to football class while I tackled the mountain of washing up and tidying that needed doing.

We've just had bacon and cream cheese bagels for lunch, and now having a bit of TV quiet time in lieu of a nap before heading to our first swimming session in 18 months. Don't think DS will even remember what a swimming pool looks like!

Then home to make chicken and pepper stew and cheesy dumplings for dinner, with DS helping. We might take the sides of his cot off as well - I'm pregnant and finding it increasingly difficult to get him in and out, and while he's tired from the lack of naps feels like a good opportunity.

After DS is in bed, I'm going to read the introduction of Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles and catch up with the read-along thread on the Christmas board. A quiet-ish day, but a nice one!

savemejebus · 16/10/2021 13:19

We've had a busy morning - ran my first parkrun since pre-COVID with DH and DDad whilst DM watched the little one. Quick cafe stop afterwards then off to swimming lessons whilst DH goes to work for a late shift which usually irritates me on a weekend but means he's off tomorrow so planning something lovely to do.
We're waiting for the outcome of a v v important promotion he interviewed for last week and are expecting to find out today so I've got butterflies and can't eat. He so deserves it! Haven't told anyone in RL he's gone for it so it's eating me up as I'm usually a blabbermouth.
Probably Halloween films and a bit of arts & crafts this afternoon with DD.
Have a great day everyone xx

pinkhampoppy · 16/10/2021 13:20

Went to bed at 3.30am. Had friends for dinner, I remember it being 9.45pm then the next minute it was 2.30am and I was calling them a taxi. Great evening but feeling tired today.

Mammoth task of cleaning and tidying up done, dogs walked and nothing much else planned. Dinner will be leftovers from last night.

Peridot1 · 16/10/2021 13:37

Love these threads. Always feels so comforting.

Although @badlydrawnbear I am thinking of you and your family this week. Not an easy week for you. Flowers

Had a lazy morning but took dog out for a lovely sunny late morning walk in fields and woods. Only 40 minutes as she can’t manage much more now but it was lovely.

Vacuumed and tidied kitchen. Have a couple of loads of washing to fold and put away.

I’m also planning on reading the introduction to the Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles book today @TheBestSpoon.

I should change the bedding but not sure I can be bothered!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 16/10/2021 13:51

I took dd to her swimming lesson and I went to the gym. Dh took ds to football. Lots of laundry and chores being done now then cooking curry for dinner.
Trying to fit an hours worth of work in at some point and baking a cake tonight for dds birthday.

Therealjudgejudy · 16/10/2021 13:56

Had a very lazy morning of cups of tea in bed and only fools and horses.

Have some laundry to fold and a bit if cleaning and hoovering and will then go to the parents this evening to watch some Poirot with my mum and stay over.

Happy Saturday allSmile

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 16/10/2021 14:16

Thanks @Taytocrisps.

scooterbear · 16/10/2021 14:23

Got up very hungover and stood in the rain watching dd2's team get absolutely mullered at football. Home and a little chill on the sofa, going to see James Bond with DP at 3, then to a friends for dinner later. Super tired but it's my own fault for drinking like a fish out in town last night.

fussychica · 16/10/2021 14:25

Beach walk at sunrise, still a little cool!
Coffee at a favourite cafe
5km walk along the seafront
Just about to go on the roof terrace or the beach to read my book.
Obviously I'm on holidaySmile. First time we've been here for 2 years. I have missed it so much. Halfway through now, only 4 weeks left. So lucky.

secretbookcase · 16/10/2021 14:37

Bootcamp in the park this morning. Then rearranging furniture in both DCs rooms as new beds were built for them today.

Working this afternoon (any minute now!) so just having a quiet cup of tea first.

No plans tonight and quite glad of it. Lazy evening in with DH.

Scotabroad24 · 16/10/2021 14:37

Spent the morning at the health centre due to an ear infection, so antibiotics, ear drops and painkillers for me.
PJ day with DS and the dog whilst DH is at work. Trying to keep DS from screeching in my ear Shock
Pizza for dinner later once DH comes home and baby goes to sleep Grin

embolass · 16/10/2021 15:02

Up at 7 to take DS to work, shopping and dog walked. Washing on and then sorted DS 1 room, new flooring coming this week and new furniture came yesterday so got that sorted and in place.

Now relaxing with a cuppa before a wee nap then to start dinner, curry, a nigella pud to make for tomorrow. Later some fizz to watch Strictly and final episode of Maid on Netflix.

Darceyhemingway · 16/10/2021 15:30

We've had a lush day so far. First weekend me and DH Have had together for ages. Went for some tea and cake this morning then went to BnQ for some DIY bits to do the baby's nursery. We're Diy virgins so that took forever. Then went a did a abit of shopping, got some lunch to bring back and have just made a start on the nursery! We were going to go out for dinner but I think we'll be shattered so we will order in instead. Have our first NCT class tomorrow too. Full on baby weekend! The cleaner also came when we were out so the house is lovely and clean

Glassofshloer · 16/10/2021 16:00

How exciting @Darceyhemingway !!

What’s your nursery going to look like? I’m about to ttc number 2 so love nursery chat Grin

I’m letting DD have a lazy afternoon in front of Peppa Pig and her colouring books because she has had a busy week & morning, plus another busy week coming up. Will make a hotpot shortly & after she’s gone to bed later I plan to try out doing my own gel nail extensions for the first time 😱 wish me luck!

U2HasTheEdge · 16/10/2021 16:12

I woke up at 11.00.

Spoke to my mum on the phone for a while. Read some of my book. I have just walked the dog for some fresh air and will go back to MNing and reading.

Lazy day, left overs for tea.

Wagsandclaws · 16/10/2021 16:15

I've got covid. On day 5 atm, so has dd, Dh and two ds's .

I've managed to out two washes on today and clean up my bedroom, tbf I was going to do the boys room but I'm shattered now.

I've also managed to do my skincare routine fie the first time since I came down with it so feeling like today is possibly a win Smile

Hope everyone is having a nice day, sun is out here ( Somerset )

AllotmentTime · 16/10/2021 16:31

We’ve driven up to visit DMIL for the weekend, got here late last night. Only trouble is, the drive is so long that we end up knackered, including MIL from staying up to let us in. DS slept best and is playing football in the garden with DH. DD is watching and drawing. DMIL is having a sit down and I’ve taken myself off to try and nap 🙄

We’ll stay over tonight, spend the day here tomorrow and then drive home Sunday evening. I mean it is worth it to see her but argh 😭

I’m looking forward to a glass of wine and Strictly later though. I am not that fussed but I quite like watching it with DD as it’s the first thing she’s enjoyed watching that we can bear to watch with her, rather than getting sick of cartoon jingles or watching the same episode of something ten million times- Strictly feels like progress by comparison!!

Right, I really need to try and nap before DS comes to regale me with tales of his amazing football skills (he’s 5)

MrsDThomas · 16/10/2021 17:23

Up early for me. Went on a 10 peak hike totalling 13 miles. Really enjoyed it. Had a hot bath And a glass if wine. Lighting the fire now and making a curry. Perfect Saturday,
