I'm just drinking my first cup of tea, in silence. It's proper silence too, other than the odd bird, very few car sounds from the main road! Bliss 😊

Dd2's alarm has just gone off & dd1's is set for 8:30. We're off to look round a potential A-Level college for dd1 this morning. Then heading to town for a few things. I might pick up few fillers for their reusable Advent calendars too.

I want to nip to one of the yarn shops in town, if I remember, to pick up yarn for some funky socks for dd1. & go in the works to look at their Christmas craft stuff.

Not sure what's for tea yet. Dd2 quite often requests curry on a Saturday evening. Whatever it is, will probably be accompanied by a glass of wine for me.

I'll probably finish dd1's crochet ghost once we're all showered and settled for the evening.

What about you lovely lot? Anyone up to anything much? :)

Have you got a slow cooker Phlox ?
My tip is to slow cook a gammon joint (I buy mine in aldi and store a few in the freezer)
So put that on for 4 hours with a drop of water and season. Great for sandwiches. Omelettes salads stick on a few baby potatoes or oven chips. I git fed up of freezer batch mince dinners. Gammon keeps a few days in the fridge.

DH, DS2 and I were up early to put the goals up at the football club as DH's team of 10/11 year olds have a match this morning. DS2 had a bacon roll and DH and I had a coffee. DS1 stayed at home in bed.

DS2 and I are home now, I'm playing with the dog and MNing, boys are both gaming. I need to stick some washing on and change the beds as well. DH will be home for lunch so we'll probably have soup.

Later we need to go to tesco for some bits. Then we are probably going to take the dog over to my parents' house to meet my cousin and auntie who will be there.

Then dog will need a walk, I'll make dinner and we'll watch a film after dinner.

I haven’t got a clue today. I’ve woken up with a headache and feel awful. Hoped to have a tidying and cleaning day. I’m sure I still will.
Just no idea what DC are going to do. DS has a tendency to wander round waiting for something to happen. DD appears to be occupying him for now (12&9)

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/10/2021 09:57

Waiting for a parcel this morning, then taking dogs to an enclosed dog field. I got to clean the car inside and out afterwards.
Need to pack my bag, as i'm off to see my parents tomorrow. 1st time in 2 years, as they live far away.
Tonight i'm taking my dds out for a meal, as my youngest b/day (22) is Monday and I wont be here.

vampirethriller · 16/10/2021 09:58

Toddler slept till 8.30!!! So we're having a nice lazy morning. Took the dog a walk and now we're having breakfast watching cbeebies, later we're meeting my friend to go to the park and it's pumpkin pasties for dinner.

TheFairyCaravan · 16/10/2021 10:00

I’m isolating because I’ve lost my sense of taste. I’ve done a test, just waiting for the results, so I will be sitting in my chair most of the day crocheting Christmas decorations. I need to assemble my poppy wreath too but DH needs to go in the garage for the glue gun for that.

DS2 is going to FaceTime this afternoon. Hopefully we might hear from DS1, who is deployed, too.

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2021 10:14

Dropped kids at school
Weekly charge of car at the shell station with a coffee and read the paper in peace (worth getting an electric car for this alone!)
About to do a barre exercise video in the front room
Back to school for chapel and lunch and then watch DS1 suffer through an away football match in the rain that he will hate Sad
Pick DS2 up from a play date
Feed kids pasta and tomato sauce and hand over to babysitter
Out for a drinks party with all the other Year 3 parents Grin

MintyCedric · 16/10/2021 10:15

Bit of housework, brunch then cooking and photographing for my new website, followed by bath, more cooking (trying a Wahaca dish this evening) and watching Strictly with The Teen (DD17).

Peanut82 · 16/10/2021 10:16

Day off work for me today. New tumble dryer arrived this morning so catching up on laundry.
Need to walk the dog, clean the house not currently sat on MN in my pjs 😆
We're going out for tea later for dd's birthday then a glass of wine back home for me then bed ready for work in the morning

Encouraging DC1 to get dressed, supermarket shopping, going swimming with DC and my sister and her DC and having dinner with them.
Life admin and sorting out for DH's funeral which is on Friday: trying to work out why tv licensing and the council tax change of direct debit hasn't worked out, trying to work out what all the stuff he has had emails in the last few days about payment not being processed was and what I need to do about it, some long complicated form about his debts being paid off by the estate (his debts far exceed any money he had that isn't tied up in the house but he didn't have a will so I have to work this out with help from my dad), editing my bit of the eulogy and gently encouraging my 10 year old who wants to write something to be read at the funeral but obviously doesn't know where to start as I didn't know where to start either. Today is a month since he died and the admin is still ongoing with more things to deal with every day in the post.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 16/10/2021 10:28

The baby kindly slept til 7am but is now napping on me, so I’m sat in front of Saturday Breakfast waiting for DH to bring me a cuppa. Once baby’s awake we’ll walk to the village deli for brunch. I’m at a friend’s birthday party tonight, first time leaving the baby so in equal parts excited and nervous!

LBOCS2 · 16/10/2021 10:28

We've done the first round of activities (Irish dance for DD2), just killing 20 minutes before taking both DDs for their swimming lessons. Then it'll be picking DH up from football, heading home and whatever the afternoon has in store. I've got an appointment to get my lashes done - first time in 18mo! - and I need to get my eyebrows done as well, in vague preparation for a holiday we may or may not be going on over half term (PCR tests allowing!).

Quiet one this weekend. The DC have been asking to see Addams Family 2 at the cinema which I'm not massively motivated to do but we probably will end up there in the absence of anything else.

Sorry for your loss Thanks
MumOfTwoChildren · 16/10/2021 10:30

Waiting for PCR test results to come through. I need to change all the bedding, set up the cot for my 10 week old as she's already outgrowing her moses basket, got some washable paints from Amazon yesterday and plan on doing a couple of canvas pictures with the kids, also need to go buy some nappies and do my meal plan and grocery list next month.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 16/10/2021 10:31

Oh @badlydrawnbear I’m so sorry for your loss. Love to you and your family.

LaMadrilena · 16/10/2021 10:32

DD down for a nap (despite only having woken an hour and a half ago!), I'm still in pyjamas contemplating a second cup of tea. Lunch with my lovely SIL later, then possibly a trip to pick up my birthday present from DH. It's a handbag I chose. DH hates surprises and can't comprehend why anyone else would like them, so I always get to choose my presents! Then hopefully trying a new place to eat tonight that's opened just round the corner. Pineapple gazpacho anyone?

bubblebath62636 · 16/10/2021 10:35

A day of cleaning for me and DH, going to clean FIL's house as he's in hospital and it needs a really deep clean 🙁.

Not exactly feeling energetic as DD2 decided on a bottle at 2am 😴

SmallGreenStripes · 16/10/2021 10:36

The football training run this morning- then haircuts for DS and DH, then DS has a party. Cleaning the house and then maybe a spot of gardening - clearing out the greenhouse - later on

bubblebath62636 · 16/10/2021 10:37

badlydrawnbear

So sorry for your loss Flowers

Bearsbearsbears40 · 16/10/2021 10:37

Sorry for your loss @badlydrawnbear.

Really not very much today, I was out at a work event I had organised until 11.30pm last night (although we did have a nice evening meal at our venue). Being the organiser means I can’t just relax and enjoy it in case anything goes wrong. Probably just giving the garden a final tidy up before winter and a bit of laundry, then I need to get a bit of online shopping done. Plenty of tea and snacks are in order, then I’ll sit down and watch strictly later and hopefully order some takeaway for dinner. I do love hearing what everyone’s up to on a Saturday.

H1978 · 16/10/2021 10:38

Recovering from hosting a dinner party yesterday. Kids still in bed but we they want various bits for school so going to wake them up soon but enjoying the peace and quiet for now.

Dinner tonight at my db’s house. Not had a get together with my sided the family for a while so looking forward to that.

languagelover96 · 16/10/2021 10:41

Quiet day today. Going to church tomorrow.

Pheebs2021 · 16/10/2021 10:48

@Snowdropsandbluebells it definitely does. I don't even have that many people to buy for but when it gets to last minute it just feels so much harder even Internet shopping feels hard to me in the winter the traipsing to send back.

Damnyoureyes · 16/10/2021 11:15

Gardens done!
All packed up, tidy for winter. Been meaning to do that for a couple of months.

Now to tackle the cleaning in the house.
2 loads of laundry done, had a tidy bit got tonnes to do before kipping before night shift tonight.
CBA if I’m honest but gotta crack on!

garlictwist · 16/10/2021 11:16

I've just been for a 2 hour run in the forest. Going to get the train to the next town in a bit to meet up with OH who is working there and then probably go for dinner.
