Sickness bug - is this normal?

So my 19 mo has only had one sickness bug before this and that was just for one night. He was a sickness bug now and threw up 4 times on Thursday and once yesterday. I keep hoping that he’ll wake up magically refreshed each day, today he’s woken up again in a very low mood, he has a very short temper and just can’t be bothered to do anything, he interacts with his favourite tv shows and will muddle about the house and ask for things to play with (e.g pans from the kitchen) but nothing holds his attention for long and he just gets annoyed and walks off and whines and cries. He’s had bursts of being completely himself (almost) but these are always followed by him being completely deflated.

He has a stomach bug, ongoing constipation (had this for 4-5 weeks now), he’s teething and he’s just getting over a cracking cold/cough that’s lasted forever. Rationally I’m thinking he’s behaving normally but irrationally I just keep thinking my little toddler who usually loves his life has just been so unlike himself for 3 days now! Saw docs on Thursday who weren’t worried and prescribed Movicol for constipation but can’t get it down him currently as he throws it back up!

It's normal but horrible! My DS similar age had a sickness bug and chest infection recently and it was a horrible week with him so out of sorts, low and miserable. I wanted my sunny boy back!

We’ve just had this bug- it’s horrible. Ds was vomiting for four days with a major headache and still isn’t right. Food and drink all tastes too strong and inedible and when you do force something down you start burping/feeling sick. Just give him fluids water/orange juice were the ones that ds tolerated. It is always worrying when it lasts 3/4 days or longer but it looks like norovirus or similar imho. He should be back to normal in a couple of days. It’s terrible watching them suffer and not being able to help.Flowers

He’s probably dehydrated which won’t help with the constipation. Can you add medication to drink and see if he’ll take it that way. Sounds like he’s just frustrated that he can’t do what he usually does. I was lucky that my 2 sons loved tv when they weren’t feeling well, we had Thomas the Tank Engine, Postman Pat and Fireman Sam on repeat.

Hope he feels better soon.
