Alarm clock that won't wake partner

Does one exist? I've come across a couple of vibrating alarms for under your pillow aimed at hearing impaired but not sure that it wouldn't still wake DH. I was thinking maybe a wearable wrist band which vibrates but can't seem to find anything. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I have an Apple Watch and that vibrates to wake me up but it doesn't disturb DH. I know Apple watches aren't cheap but if there's a cheaper option I can highly recommend it.

A fitbit?

DancingQueen2018 · 15/10/2021 16:13

My Fitbit does the same (it’s a versa 2).

Well, an Apple Watch will do it, but if you don't already have one that seems like an expensive sledgehammer to crack a nut.

RubiconJones · 15/10/2021 16:20

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry, should have said that ideally looking for something that isn't as expensive as that, so was hoping for more of a stand alone product. I used to have a basic fitbit but it didn't have any alarm function I don't think.

Is it a big problem for you guys? DH gets up 1.5hrs before me each day, but I sleep through his phone alarm and clattering around the house most days....

HalzTangz · 15/10/2021 16:26

I have a Fitbit versa that vibrates to wake me up, sometimes though the vibration isn't enough to wake me up

TheMagiciansNiece · 15/10/2021 16:29

How about a 2nd hand Fitbit? You could probably pick one up for under £20 on eBay

Sparklfairy · 15/10/2021 16:30

Set your phone alarm to vibrate and strap it to your head? Wink

I have to say, I'm not a particularly heavy sleeper and the fitbit vibrating wrist alarms don't wake me at all anyway.

Gladioli23 · 15/10/2021 16:33

I wouldn't be prepared to rely on a vibrating alarm. Could you use a Fitbit (my charge 2 did and I can try and charge it up and post it to you if you want - it needs a new strap)? I have a new one as I wanted one that was suitable for swimming. Then you could have a proper alarm but set 15 mins later so you could turn it off before it went off most of the time but have a back up?

It's not a massive problem but I know my alarm disturbs DH when I get up early and was just exploring alternatives. A secondary reason is that I find most alarm tones quite jarring and thought a vibration might be gentler. Point taken about it not being as reliable though

Thanks for the kind offer @Gladioli23 but I don't want you to go to any trouble!

Alarms don’t wake up my husband (boarding school, so learned to sleep through anything), he does however wake to voices, so we made a recording of me saying his name and he sets that as his alarm ‘tone’.

RedCarsGoFaster · 15/10/2021 16:45

Maybe switch an alarm tone out for music? We both have different songs as alarms. Mostly rock music.

Gladioli23 · 15/10/2021 16:52

No worries Rubicon, but it's just sitting in a drawer so drop a line if you change your mind.

TabTime Vibrating Alarm Reminder Watch

mindutopia · 15/10/2021 16:59

I put my phone on vibrate and it vibrates next to my head. Plenty loud enough to wake me up but not super intrusive. I've been getting up early to commute for years like that.

I wasn't suggesting she buy an Apple Watch specifically, I was just saying the vibrating alarm feature works well for me so if there are cheaper options it could work 🤷🏼‍♀️
KittenKong · 16/10/2021 09:07

I bought a very cheap ‘not Fitbit’ and it had this function.

I bought a cheap version of a fit bit that had a vibrating alarm. I think it's called Very Fit pro.

KittenKong · 16/10/2021 09:16

ChorizoJacketPotato · 16/10/2021 09:27
