Reflux

Hi, need some advise please!
Currently have a 9 wk old with silent reflux. I am combi feeding breast and formula using HIPP organic first milk. The GP prescribed gaviscon at 6 wk check but it’s not helping with reflux and is also making her constipated. The GP has now prescribed a thickener to add to milk and medication to help with constipation however I’m reluctant to want to put her on all this medication.
She’s really struggling with pain during her feeds and I can’t put her down as she’s not sleeping or settling!
Feel like I’m on the edge!

All three of mine have had reflux to varying degrees, so I sympathise.

My youngest is now 14 months, when she was 10 weeks I read on here about kendamil milk. I looked into it and apparently fish oils in milk can exacerbate reflux in some babies - kendamil doesn’t contain any. (she was also on Hipp before).

Switched to that and christ, it was a godsend. She started drinking a little more and was in far less pain.

I’d give it a try, so many parents I’ve come across have found it helpful.

And as for the gaviscon - the constipation doesn’t last forever. From my own experience and that I read from others, it can take a few week but it does settle.

Thank you. I did read somewhere about kendamil and thought of trying it but went the HIPP formula instead. Will give it a go! Would you still put the gaviscon in or try without first?
Thanks again

Not sure if they're still doing it, but we got ranitidine liquid. Might be worth asking about?

I’d go with the gaviscon at first.

That’s just what I did to be honest. I noticed her symptoms were getting much better on kendamil so started rescuing the gaviscon gradually.
