Reading at a wedding

I’ve been asked to do a reading for a Christmas wedding, it’s lovely

Lots of weddings I’ve been to the person just gets up and starts talking. Should I introduce myself? Or the piece? It isn’t religious, just a nice poem

When I did it, the minister introduced me, and I said what the piece was.

If you're doing the reading in the actual ceremony, the Registrar or religious celebrant will announce you.

Also, currently, there must be no religious content in readings at Registry ceremonies (we have to check!)

Our of interest, what’s the reading? And, yes, you will be introduced.

It’s usual to announce the reading if the officiant hasn’t already done so. It will also be printed in the Order of Service (if there is one)
