Making friends??

Really outing myself here but I have no friends local to me! I have two friends from when I lived elsewhere but they are not "mum friends" and live further away.

How do you make friends with mums in the early weeks? DS is 12 weeks and unfortunately it seems every single baby group around me shut down during the lockdowns! Is there any other way to make friends during this part where you aren't at school/ soft play etc.

Have the baby groups not opened back up?

I've got an almost four month old and been quite lucky in making friends but there are a few groups near me and I have met some mums IRL from online groups.

@BunnytheFriendlyDragon unfortunately the local organisation that ran most of their groups lost pretty much all of their funding so haven't opened back up for the time being, they want to in the new year but I worry I'll feel isolated between then and now!

Yes it's a shame if there is nothing until 2022. Do you live on a city? It does seem odd that there's nothing. Have you tried googling things like "baby yoga" "baby massage" near you? What about baby swimming or something like mummy fit? Is there a cinema that does baby friendly screenings?

If not is there a local park or cafe where other mums go? Just getting out you may meet people. Is there anyone with a baby where you live? I live in a village and people have already been telling me about Sarah at number X who has just had a baby.

You could try starting a Mumsnet thread for local mums or asking on your local Facebook page. If there are no groups there will be other people where you live in the same position most likely.

Any local church halls, soft plays etc? They tend to do baby groups.

Are there no paid groups you can sign up for such as Baby Sensory or Jo Jingles? I did some baby classes through The Daisy Foundation too.
