MMR vaccine as an adult? Experiences.

My gp flagged up that u hadn't had mmr. And kind of said were taking the opportunity to do them when we see patients. I kind of said yes. Next min the vaccine was prepped and I had it. Monday gone I had the 2nd dose.

Now not sure if linked but today I feel really sick. My joints and muscles ache. And I feel exhausted like I've never experienced before. I was meant to go grocery shopping which I love. The fridge and cupboards are bare it's the end of the week /start of pay month for dh. And I literally said fuck it. The kids can have a drive thro breakfast tomorrow (no milk even) and ill grab a meal deal for dd3 pre school lunch from the garage on way. Thankfully her pre school are pretty good with what they take as long as no nuts.
I contemplated doing a home delivery or a collection but I can't even think what we need.. Which is everything. I can't function.

I feel just so weird.!

I had to have my 2 doses when I changed jobs a couple of years ago.
Sorry, but apart from a sore arm, I was absolutely fine.

I had it recently and was fine, sorry to hear you're having a bad day. Hopefully you will feel ok again tomorrow?

I wonder if it's like covid vaccine, 12 - 24 hrs of roughness then ok again?

Sorry you feel unwell. My partner had his MMR two years ago as it was flagged he hasn't had it. He feel ill for a day - fever, sickness, aches and pains - but was absolutely fine the next day.

It might be an immune reaction, might be another bug you've picked up. If you feel very unwell call 111 for advice.

I ended up with 2 MMR's in adulthood- despite having the regular childhood vaccines. I need to provide evidence of vaccination for work and when TTC, got my levels checked which were only equivocal- hence the adult vaccines. I had no problems at all that I recall!

Did you have the vaccine this week, or last week (4/oct)? I assume you've done a LFT to check?

I had a booster in Uni when there was an outbreak of mumps on campus. I don't remember feeling particularly rough from it but it seems side effects can vary massively. I know I was told to give calpol as needed and could expect side effects up to a week later when DS had his at 1.

I had it at the beginning of the year and was absolutely fine, no side effects at all. It could effect everyone differently.

Short-term rash, fever, swollen glands, or pain and stiffness in the joints are uncommon but known (and 'non-serious') side-effects of the MMR in adults. I say non-serious because it is not medically serious but it can feel pretty rotten at the time!
