Just that 😂

Far too many over lockdown - every week practically. Have managed to cut it down to once a month or so.

DockOTheBay · 15/10/2021 04:47

Rarely. Maybe once a month.
It used to be more often, but I've got much better at meal planning and having the ingredients for quick and healthy meals in the cupboard for backup.

Pemmican · 15/10/2021 05:16

Never. I live out in the sticks. The few takeaway joints within driving distance are all awful.

B229 · 15/10/2021 05:16

Never because there is none where I live Sad but prior to that about once every two weeks. Now freezer pizza is my treat and it's a once a week thing!

garlictwist · 15/10/2021 05:35

I live alone, hate cooking, and eat what you all seem to claim to be "fuck it" meals every day - ie toast, omelette, baked beans. If I get a take away it's a treat for me as a "real meal" Grin. I usually get one every time I fancy it, which is probably about every six weeks or so.

AuntieMarys · 15/10/2021 05:40

Never...but we out once a week at least.

Dollywilde · 15/10/2021 05:41

We have a takeaway roughly every 3 weeks (some months it’ll be fortnightly, some months it’ll be monthly) but never when we’ve planned something healthy? It’s always well planned in advance - like a PP says, it’s nice to have it to look forward to. We had a takeaway on Wednesday as we came back from holiday so it was a ‘last horrah’ and at the end of the month on my payday DH is away for a night so I’ll have one as a treat then.

That said we have a 1 year old and not much in the way of babysitting options, so takeaways now just take up the space that pre baby and pre pandemic was going out for dinner! Means I don’t feel too guilty about the calories or the expense Smile

FlamesEmbersAshes · 15/10/2021 06:08

Never these days. A takeaway is a treat I have to budget for. I maybe did this occasionally in my younger, richer days but never do so now.

Ellarain · 15/10/2021 07:10

Never, takeaway is a treat. We maybe order
once a month maximum and on a Friday night and it's usually for our dc. DH and I will have a little bit of theirs but not always.Cannot remember the last time we got a takeaway mid week. I do like cooking though which helps and it's very important to me to feed my children healthy home cooked food regularly.

Yourstupidityexhaustsme · 15/10/2021 17:10

People who say they’ve never had takeaways - do you really mean never?

Not at uni after a night out?
Not a takeaway pizza on a Friday night?
Not a McDonald’s/Burger King/KFC?

Immaculatemisconception · 15/10/2021 17:15

Tonight. I just really fancy fish and chips.

Simonjt · 15/10/2021 17:16

We have take away every friday, plus we go out to lunch, making breakfast is the closest we get to cooking on a Friday.

bumblingbovine49 · 15/10/2021 17:21

We've stopped having takeaways on Friday or Saturday night as we've had to wait 2+ hours for delivery the last 4 times we have done this so spontaneously doing this risks a very hangry household nowadays. We usually get one one every 4-5 weeks but always planned for midweek nowadays.

I suppose weekend delivery times might have improved around here recently but I can't take the risk 😄

SentDeliveredRead · 15/10/2021 17:23

You utter bitch Grin I cook everything from scratch but I read this this morning and thought fuck it, so tonight we have a ready meal 🙏👍👍

CurryLover55 · 15/10/2021 17:24

Not often, although I do often cook something other than what I planned cos I can’t be bothered eg the other night we had battered fish, chips & peas instead of cottage pie.

OrlandointheWilderness · 15/10/2021 17:25

About once a week!

idril · 15/10/2021 17:25

Never. If we have a takeaway it's planned. We meal plan though so getting a takeaway would mess it up and I am quite regimented about it.

merryhouse · 15/10/2021 17:28

Never. We have a meal plan which is only deviated from if something unexpected happens. Takeaways and eating out are an integral part of the meal planning (though not as frequent as they used to be because we are not as rich).

FloconDeNeige · 15/10/2021 17:36

Not often, for the following reasons;

  1. There aren’t many places in the village
  2. They don’t deliver, you have to go and collect
  3. It’s super-expensive. Takeaway pizzas for 4 come to about £60, burgers similar (I’m in Switzerland). We can afford it but it’s just a waste of money to do it frequently.
KrispyKale · 15/10/2021 17:43

Our local ones are average to dire and expensive with it. So very, very rarely.

Cheesepuff1 · 15/10/2021 17:45

every 3 months ish

KrispyKale · 15/10/2021 17:45

In a pinch we have beans on toast. We usually go out for breakfast or lunch one day of the weekend nowadays: that works as our treat.

FrazzledY9Parent · 15/10/2021 17:52

Very rarely as I tend to think it's not just that nice for the money - maybe once every 2-3 months? My equivalent is a pizza or fish and chips from the freezer.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 15/10/2021 17:54

All the people who say they have no takeaways around, where on earth do you live? Even in the most rural places like Norfolk and Cornwall I've managed to find a takeaway place, even if I've had to collect it.

actiongirl1978 · 15/10/2021 17:57

We live in the country so by the time you drive the food home it would be cold. I occasionally get the DC a pizza from the woodfired pizza place a few miles away, but I wouldn't choose to eat it.

If I was too exhausted to cook and the DC are elsewhere I'd have cereal or a sandwich.
