Shopping trip: Leeds, Sheffield city centre, or Meadowhall?

Question for locals or those otherwise in the know: I'm going to be visiting this approximate area soon, and would like to go shopping somewhere with decent shops (ideally to include department stores) and hopefully also an H&M with an older kids' department. I'll mainly be looking for wedding guest outfits for me and pre-teen DD.

Where would you go? And also, is the John Lewis in Leeds walkable from.the city centre?

Yes John Lewis is walkable from the centre. I prefer Leeds for shopping but Meadowhall is also good.

Meadowhall is the best.

I wouldn't do Sheffield centre. Now J Lewis has gone, no more Debenhams etc, it's difficult to know where to start and what is worth looking at shop wise is pretty spread out.

Meadowhall would be my 'go to' place because it is not weather dependent. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes though as the marble floors are harder on the feet than outdoor paths and roads

Depends on your budget. If you’re looking for the normal high street stuff it doesn’t really matter. Leeds has harvey nicks, john lewis and some slightly higher end stuff compared to meadowhall, so I’d probably choose that.

Given a choice though I’d probably go Manchester city centre, or Trafford centre.

Agree with PP- don't go to Sheffield City Centre- there aren't many shops left

Leeds most definitely. You can also go to White Rose shopping centre in Leeds too.

I thought Meadowhall was disappointing when I went a few years ago.

No department stores in Sheffield or meadowhall except m&s. Very disappointing at the moment. There is Atkinsondept store in Sheffield city but not many other clothes shops.
