Some advice for pre teen skin please

Hello.

DS is almost 12 and has developed spots over the last few months. They are very small, under the skin but with the odd white head. They are mostly on his forehead and nose.

Does anyone has any ideas for treatment at all? At what point have others seeked treatment such as antibiotics?

Would really appreciate some advice this is been territory for me!

We just went straight to GP and got prescription for Duac, which worked but if it hadn’t, there is still other choices as well that GP can try.

In my opinion, most over the counter face washes and treatments are too harsh or create as many skin problems as they solve. Cleansers strip natural protection on skin, so you then have to moisturise etc. Spot treatments can over dry causing redness, itch, flaking etc. So we skipped them entirely.

We all just use water to wash our faces. DCs used Duac for spots and really gave them perfect complexions.

Anything with salicylic in should help. Nip & Fab Teen Skin. Effaclar Duo are both great. If it's proper acne, then you need benzoyl peroxide (duac etc)but that's very harsh and you should see GP to get it and build up the percentage of benzoyl.
Avoid ranges like "Simple" (it isn't) Cerave do a good face wash too.

Dc use cetaphil and cerave and seem to have pretty good skin.

DS (15) uses the Clinique blemish face wash and the yellow moisturiser gel. DD (14) uses the La Roche Posay Effaclar range. Both have oily skin prone to spots but are mostly clear using their preferred stuff.
