Tales of accidental idiocy

I’ve lost a certificate that I need for an application. I knew where it was, and I remember moving it into a ‘safe place’.

Can’t find the damn thing, so I was rushing about looking in all the usual places. Decided to try the top shelf in the living room, stood on my footstool to have a look. It tipped, I fell backwards, landed on the floor on my back and whacked my head on a table!

Feel like a right idiot, plus my head is sore and my upper back where I landed on the floor. I am very lucky as nothing is broken. Still haven’t found the certificate unfortunately!

Cheer me up with your tales of similar catastrophe.

Not quite as dramatic (!) but we got one of those cheap chip cutter things where you feed the potato in and push the lever down and it feeds chips out the other end. It was so flimsy I couldn't push it down and it was getting stuck, as on the worktop I didn't have the leverage. I moved it do the table and pushed down with all my might, it suddenly gave and my ribs came crashing straight into the table. Cracked some and was in pain for weeks.

The real idiocy comes when a few weeks later, ribs almost healed, I did it AGAIN Hmm

Oh dear @Sparklfairy! I’d have been tempted to bin it after the first incident!

Well that would have been the sensible thing to do Grin but I'd used it a couple of times between both cracked ribs incidents and thought I'd cracked it. Clearly brute force won out as I was hangry for chips the second time and impatient!

I've also, multiple times, stood on a swinging office chair to reach something, then wondered why I fell off yet again. Beforehand I just think oh I'll be more careful...
