If someone said 'see you next Wednesday' on a Monday; would you assume they meant Wednesday of the same week, or the week after?

Week after

dementedpixie · 13/10/2021 19:31

I'd say This Wednesday if it was this week and Next Wednesday if it was the week after

IhateBoswell · 13/10/2021 19:32

Week after. This Wednesday is this week.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 13/10/2021 19:55

Weds the week after

Watercoloursky · 13/10/2021 20:10

I'd expect 'see you on Wednesday' if it was this coming one.

MoreThanAnOffDay · 13/10/2021 20:22

Week after. This weds would be this week.

WayneBruce · 13/10/2021 21:16

I'd clarify imeadatly and not assume either.

Next week if it was this week they would say this Wednesday.

This Wednesday = upcoming Wednesday
Next Wednesday = the one after

However:

If its a little way off (say it's Thursday atm) then next Wednesday would be the upcoming one, so I suppose "next Wednesday" = "this Wednesday" in that case!

Always best to clarify at the time Grin
