I have been at my company just under a year, it has been a year of ups and downs in terms of workload and staff morale. The last 3 months have been hell tbqh, everyone is overworked, stressed and my mental health has been in pieces.
I got asked to take on a project a couple of weeks ago which was well above my pay grade and level of experience. It was a last minute request because we are overworked and understaffed and I was asked by my line manager to pick it up. For the first time ever I put my foot down and said no, I don't have capacity and it is a senior level project, I'm low level etc. so I don't feel comfortable taking it on.
As a compromise it's now been given me to assist while someone else does the main part of the work and deals with external clients/goes to the meetings, so they just basically tell me what to do and I do it. Which is fine in theory, however I now feel even worse as it is SO hard deciphering half of a project! I get told to 'update in this report with the data from my email' which is really not straight forward without the wider context attached to it. So I end up having to go back and ask 10 questions, which all feel like really stupid questions!, so everything just feels so longwinded and I feel like a complete idiot.
I'm not sure why I'm writing this really but just wondering if anyone else is struggling today
