Recommend me a lovely Easter holiday destination

We are looking to go away with DC aged 10 and 13 for a week or 10 days over Easter. We enjoy nature and walking, a bit of culture, good food, splashing in a lake/ pool if warm enough, family friendly museums. Not really into big resorts, water parks, kids clubs etc. Favourite holidays over Easter have been The Netherlands and Washington/ Virginia. I’d love somewhere a bit warmer this year. Europe/ East Coast US both perfect, but we are stuck for inspiration. Budget is up to 7/8k.

Any ideas very welcome!

Europe will be hit and miss weather wise, even at the end of the Easter holidays. Cyprus is perhaps the safest.

What about Marrakech - should be warmer? The Atlas mountains are great for walking and there’s plenty of cultural interest. You could perhaps combine Marrakech with a few nights in the Atlas and/or desert?

Ooh. I haven’t been to Marrakech for years. That would be an amazing experience for the children. I love Morocco. My only worry is that a have a very pretty teenage daughter and I remember being endlessly rubbed up against in the streets, which wasn’t very nice even as an adult.

Madeira

We’ve been to Granada in Spain in April. The temperature was prefect and the Alhambra palace (our main reason for going) was stunning. We hired a car and drove out into the Sierra Nevada national park for walking.

Oh I didn’t get anything like that Oompa, perhaps as I was with my then boyfriend? Sorry to hear that.

We had a lovely Easter trip to Cairo and Luxor a few years ago.

Japan is lively at that time of year too!

I’m definitely looking into both Madeira and Spain. We once had Christmas in Andalusia and it’s lovely.
Japan would be amazing! I’d love to see the blossom 🌸

I’ve went to Brazil (Rio) and then flew to Argentina when my DC were a similar age and it was a great trip. We went to a rain forest in
A jeep and stayed in one, visited Iguassa falls on the Brazilian and Argentine side, went to a tropical bird place, diamond mines, Christ the Redeemer, Sugar loaf mountain, had a few afternoons on the beach or the hotel pool for a few hours after a day out. We ate some lovely steaks in Argentina and popped to Paraguay for a morning too.
