How do I restore my trainers?

My adidas flatforms got flooded in the rain the other day when I was wearing them when I went out for a walk.
I've left them to dry but now they smell because of the rain water :( they are too heavy to go in the washing machine, anyone have any tips on how I can restore/clean/freshen them up so I can wear them again?
I loved them and only had them for a month or so but I can't bare the thought of wearing smelly trainers 😭

Zoflora on cotton wool or paper inside them for a bit?

I'd wash them again thoroughly by hand and dry them properly. It sounds like you just left then to dry. I found the best way to dry shoes is the newspaper technique. Take out insoles, stuff with newspaper. Leave 10-20 minutes or as long as it takes to soak the paper. Repeat until they're dry. Kitchen paper or a tea towel or dish cloth would probably also work.

Cover the soles with plenty of bicarbonate of soda and leave for a couple of days,
Worked a treat on my son's very smelly trainers that he had got wet.

Put them in the washing machine then dry them quickly in the airing cupboard !
