Fruit flies

There is nothing mouldy in here, I’ve cleaned out the cupboards, fridge, all the kitchen worktops, the floor, skirting boards and drawers and bins.

Where are they coming from and how the hell do I get rid of them when I’ve blitzed the entire kitchen and they are STILL here Sad I’ve put bleach down the drains and set up cider vinegar traps, is there anything else?

I've got them too, and just been to my DM's and so has she. Also no idea where they're coming from and never really noticed them before in my house like this.

Sorry, no help!

More cider traps and some patience.

Do you have plants?

Robin233 · 12/10/2021 21:29

I had some once come from a plant I has given it some baby bio feed.

Jam34435 · 12/10/2021 21:30

@gamerchick I have a couple and thought it could be the soil so I shook the plants to see if any flew out but none did, could they be in there anyway?

I don’t have any plants and we’ve got loads at the moment too. There’s been a load of people talking about them in different places, I think there is just a late burst of them this year Confused

The cold will kill them off eventually. They’ll have a hidden food source somewhere, check for old lunch boxes or something outside? Bleach bins and get rid of any pet food bowls as soon as they’re finished eating. I had fruit flies in summer and had to feed my cats outside, clean the bowls then hose down the patio to get rid of the food smell which did work.

Wine and dish soap works, orange juice and dish soap too.

Coffee machine maybe??

cricketmum84 · 12/10/2021 21:53

Oh god we had loads of the little blighters!!!

I bought two fruit fly traps from Amazon and they were all gone within a few days. And I had tried all the usual home methods.

They are called fruit fly ninja. Honestly they are so good.

Here it's ALWAYS bananas.
