Another thread reminded me of this. I had several friends growing up who in my eyes had weird rules.
Friend one - no sitting on beds at all during the day. Beds were only for night time after pyjamas were put on. If you wanted to rest during the day there was a day bed in the living room that it was permissable to lie on.
2 Friend who ate as a family in the conservatory which had loads of potted plants. After the dinner no one was allowed to leave until the parents had lifted all of the plants out of their pots and put them back in again. I had no idea what was going on, until the mum said that she was checking for food that anyone might have hidden. I went on to discover this mum was obsessed with children possibly developing eating disorders and was constantly looking out for signs.
3 Friend who wasn't allowed to leave bedroom unless dressed. I grew up in a house where we would lounge around in pj's downstairs, so this felt really odd to me.
