Looked for your glasses and then realised you're actually wearing them?

Looked for your phone to call someone and then realised you're actually using it for a different purpose, ie browsing?

Picked up the tv remote to make a call?

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Hell yes to all of the above.

Getting a shopping trolley and forgetting pound coin.
Getting coin, get trolley then forgotten mask.
2 trips back to the bloody car.

Go into a room and forgetting why I’ve gone into that room.

MassiveHoard · 12/10/2021 15:05

You're definitely not the only one. Sometimes combined into one smooth successive movement.

clarkkentsglasses · 12/10/2021 15:09

Tried to get in the house by pointing your car key at the door FFS

magicstar1 · 12/10/2021 15:12

On the phone to my friend one day, and I asked her to hold on. I was getting more and more agitated and she asked what was wrong "I can't find my phone anywhere" was my answer

firstimemamma · 12/10/2021 15:12

Once I dropped ds off at nursery and instead of handing the member of staff his contact book I tried to give her my house keys.

Boomerang99 · 12/10/2021 15:16

I remembered another one. I was cooking sausages under the grill when the landline went. It was persistent family member and I kept saying I had to go because I could smell my sausages burning. Eventually they hung up and I went to the kitchen and put my CORDLESS phone down on the kitchen counter. Had to throw those sausages away!

All the time!!
I often find things like the pepper grinder in the fridge instead of the cupboard next to the fridge, although I've not found anything that should be in the fridge in the cupboard!
I once spent quite a long time trying to access a hotel lift (the sort where you need your room key to get in it) with my Boots advantage card. In my defence they were both predominantly white and I might have had a couple of glasses of wine.

spiderlight · 12/10/2021 16:27

I once overheard one side of a phone conversation outside a shop that went 'Mum, no, you haven't....mum, you haven't...mum...mum.... mum ...MUM! YOU HAVEN'T LOST IT! YOU'RE TALKING TO ME ON IT NOW!!'

Aquamarine1029 · 12/10/2021 16:30

I texted my daughter the other day, and instead of waiting for a reply like a normal person, I put my phone to my ear as though I had called her. I sat there for a ridiculously long time before I realised what the hell I was doing.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/10/2021 16:32

I'm sure most lost sunglasses turn up perched atop the owners head like mine do.

iklboo · 12/10/2021 16:35

Yes. They're usually on top of my head.

Also frantically searching for keys. Which are in my hand.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 12/10/2021 16:36

I once spent half an hour looking for my phone - whilst talking to my sister on it.

After I got a Kindle, I was reading an actual book, and tried to swipe the page to turn it.

More than once, I've tried to plug my phone charger into a packet of cigarettes.

🙈🙄

TheChip · 12/10/2021 16:40

I have found myself searching for my phone using the torch on my phone to look for it.

I also spent a good 5 minutes trying to unlock my door when I came home from work. The key was going in, but it wasn't turning. I was repeatedly trying to smack the handle down harder and harder incase I had opened it and it was just jammed. Retried unlocking it a good few times. Completely confused I stepped back to think of how I'm going to get it, and realised it was my neighbours house.

They were in as well, but both deaf so weren't terrified thinking someone was trying to break in. They didn't hear a thing. Thankfully.

thewhatsit · 12/10/2021 16:47

My phone often vibrates in my bag, I root around to find it and can’t and then panic that I’ve lost my phone somewhere or that someone had stolen it. Blush

lucysmam · 12/10/2021 16:55

I do the phone thing quite often!

I once put my shop away, thought I must have forgotten to buy onions even though I was sure I'd seen them. Hunted a bit more & gave up. I'd put them in the bloody chest freezer. I didn't even try defrosting them to see what they went like.

I lose my glasses on top of my head often too 🙄

AleynEivlys · 12/10/2021 17:03

I tried to scroll through my book with my finger the other night. Blush Then managed to do the same thing about five minutes later.

DroopyClematis · 12/10/2021 17:13

Standing there, for what seemed like ages, pressing really hard ( and even holding it up to my ear!) on my car key fob , wondering why the bloody front door TO MY HOUSE wouldn't open.

Trying desperately to open my car door in a car park... pulling door handles, pulling the manual key out of the fob, trying to open the damned thing. Mobile was dead so had to go back to work to phone my son to bring the spare key fob.

And yes, you're right... it was the wrong bloody car 🙄

EmmalineC · 12/10/2021 18:04

All of them, all the bloody time. I've phoned DH to ask him if he'd seen my phone. I've scoured the house for my glasses that I was wearing. At work, virtually every shift, I have a panicky look for the drug keys that are in my hand. I've tipped bird seed in the cat's bowl and wondered why he was giving me the side eye. I've searched for my bag that is hanging off my shoulder.

It's not early onset dementia or brain fog caused by Covid, because I have always been like this Grin

Laiste · 12/10/2021 18:12

Talking to DH today with the phone to my ear and on loudspeaker Hmm

Bloody hell it was loud! Grin

AndStand · 12/10/2021 18:17

Yes, and also I've gingerly felt my face to check I've actually got my glasses on. Forgetting that I can't actually see very well if they weren't on my face.

Also find myself pressing a word in an actual paper book to find out its meaning. It works on a kindle but not in a paperback 🙄

Laiste · 12/10/2021 18:18

oooooh the wrong car thing ...

walking in a car park with DD (21) towards to what i thought was my car and saw a dent. OMG DD i shouted, ''it's been bloody dented!''

ran to it.
ran my hands over the dent in horror, going ''oh no!''

Became aware of DD saying ''mum, that's not our car ...'' at the same time as i became aware that there was a woman sitting in the car watching me outside caressing it ...

BlushShockHmm
i ran away so fast Grin

TabithaTiger · 12/10/2021 18:29

I've lost my phone in the house and gone to pick up my phone to call it.

Have text DS to tell him he's left his phone at home.

Left the house keys on the lock on the outside of the front door more times than I will admit to

ErrolTheDragon · 12/10/2021 18:39

Tried to phone DH on his mobile to tell him he'd gone out with his mobile....Hmm

Cherrypies · 12/10/2021 20:11

On my phone in calculater mode, trying to make a call on it, frowning all confused at it, till it sunk in🤔🤔
