Hi, i am new here so apologies if i am posting in the wrong section.
My child has been offered a place at Durham sixth form, he has asked if we could move there.

We currently live in the North West and I have recently got out of a long term relationship, we are living with my mum and the job I have isn't the best so it would be good for a new start.

I am trying to decide if Durham is a good area to live and if there would be a future my 16 year old child, how easy would it be to gain employment? I am currently an office manager. What areas are good to live in and commute to college for my child. I hope somebody can help answer a few of my concerns

Hi, I live in north west Durham. I also work in Durham city (when not wfh). What area would you be looking to move to?

Also the train to Newcastle city is 20 minutes so lots of opportunities there

I don't know which area is best to move to. I don't know too much about the area except what my child's friends have said. It seems everywhere is spread out and not many places are in walking distance of the centre?

We did go a few weekends back and it looks a lovely city I seem to see that Framwell gate looks close ish? Are there any areas to avoid? The rent all seems a lot cheaper than where we live at the minute so it's hard for me to know which are good and bad areas.
