Shrewsbury?

DH has been offered a job in Shrewsbury and it's an area we are not familiar with. Does anyone know the area / surrounding areas please? We have primary aged DC so would be looking for good state schools.

Loads of very good schools - good shopping - good transport in the town, villages vary enormously so worth checking especially for team years if you don't want to be a taxi. House prices are reasonable for the most part. Whole town still has on the whole a good community spirit. Market Hall has fab food nights x

Shrewsbury is lovely, lots of new housing being built. Traffic is awful though. I live very close.

Shrewsbury is very nice. Nice schools, nice shops, lots to do. Don't make the mistake of buying in the neighbouring town of Telford though. House prices are infinitely cheaper but there's a reason for that - it's a shithole.

The centre of town is lovely. The outskirts are just one enormous housing estate.

Shrewsbury is nice, Telford isn't.

I live in Telford but work at both hospitals, Shrewsbury is lovely! I would move there if I could afford too. Not sure about schools though sorry :)
