Products that really, actually work

I am evangelical about HG bathroom mould spray. It gets rid of the black mould in the tile grout and works fairly well on silicone too. I think it bleaches it, I’m not sure, but anyway I used it and transformed my shower tiles which I thought would need to be regrouted.

No I don’t work for them. I’m just amazed that it works so well Blush

Anyone else evangelical about a product?

Pink stuff paste & elbow grease.
Both pretty cheap and work with little effort.

Mrsacemay · 10/10/2021 23:00

Braun IPL Silk Expert - laser hair thingy. I cannot believe how well it works and only wish it had been around when I was a teenager. Genuinely life changing.

Now my friend raves about pink stuff paste, but what is it for?

@MelKarnofskyCrane but does it not "petrify" the sealant?

I noticed we have that pink mould around our bath and I wondered what would get rid of it for good. Might give it a go

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 10/10/2021 23:04

I think the pink stuff is overrated personally.

It's basically a corrosive cleaner.

DuesToTheDirt · 10/10/2021 23:04

I am evangelical about HG bathroom mould spray.

Hmm, I've had a couple of bottles of this and you're only part way down the bottle when the spray mechanism stops working, so I'm not that impressed.

CornedBeef451 · 10/10/2021 23:05

@MelKarnofskyCrane does it have a strong smell?

I really need something for my shower but can't use bleach or other strong smelling products as they can set off DDs asthma and my migraines.

I'm searching for the holy grail of effective but not stinky!

MelKarnofskyCrane · 10/10/2021 23:06

I dunno I haven’t noticed any degradation of the sealant. I used it a lot in our old place and never noticed that happening.

It does say on the bottle (I just checked) that it can stain elastic grouting (such as silicone paste) brown but this never happened to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pink stuff paste v good for anything a bit stubborn. I use it in the same way I used to use butlers friend but much cheaper.
eg Very good on white/butler sinks and around plugholes

MelKarnofskyCrane · 10/10/2021 23:07

Yea it’s quite strong, you need to ventilate the room pretty well.

Pink stuff is fab on your oven door.
Shake n vac for making a teenage boys room smell better for longer
Use sugar soap to clean a stainless steel kitchen sink, makes it look incredible!

Fridgebotherer · 10/10/2021 23:23

Nilco professional glass cleaner cleans mirrors and my shiny kitchen backsplash. I have tried so many things before. But this actually works.

MelKarnofskyCrane · 10/10/2021 23:26

Ooh thanks fridge we have a glass table and it’s been driving me insane because it’s so streaky. The best I’ve found so far is Astonish vinegar spray

Snowdropsandbluebells · 10/10/2021 23:29

Dr Beckhams carpet cleaner
Lidl limescale remover

Fridgebotherer · 10/10/2021 23:31

Hate streaky mirrors. I always just seem to spread them, not clean them. I was so pleased with it I actually bought a huge refill from Amazon so I don't run out. Sad, I know!

Xiaoxiong · 10/10/2021 23:43

Dermalex Rosacea cream. I tried it as a last resort before shelling out to see a dermatologist privately and have been amazed to find that it has really worked and as a knock-on effect a lot of what I had thought were hormonal spots have cleared up. Still not quite sure why it works, but I'm just hoping it lasts!!

earsup · 10/10/2021 23:52

Lidl W5 kitchen grease spray....excellent stuff...!! and about 69p i think..the pink stuff mentioned is also very good.

GameofPhones · 10/10/2021 23:55

Shaw's Pet Stain/Odour Remover for when pets pee etc. on carpet. I found it works well.

FrenchBoule · 11/10/2021 00:06

I don’t find pink stuff abrasive. It cleans gas cooker and sink very well.Didn’t manage to clean my manky oven door

Astonish oven cleaner for nicely caked brown glass in the oven door. Not much effort and the door is clean again.

MelKarnofskyCrane · 11/10/2021 00:07

Astonish stuff is surprisingly good for the price of it. The mould and mildew remover is pretty good

Wilkos hydrating primer. I was never a fan of primer but bought it to see if I could get make up to stay on. Several days later I was admiring my soft, dewy unlined skin and I realised this product had filled out my under eye bags, smoothed my skin and taken five years off. I almost ran there to buy another. It was only £2.50 or something as well.

Other than that surface wipes are amazing for cleaning quickly- even the kids can see using a wipe gets surfaces clean fast.

daisyducky · 11/10/2021 06:38

Elbow grease. For anything in the kitchen that has dust stuck on it because of the grease then it does the job. Our light bulbs came up a treat and a display unit with bottles in it

daisyducky · 11/10/2021 06:40

And kilrock descaler for your ketttle. It just melts it away. Nothing else works as well

Billandben444 · 11/10/2021 06:43

Wood Silk spray polish - a game changer.
Aldi's Lacura caviar face creams - as good as Clinique for a third of the price.

PersonaNonGarter · 11/10/2021 06:51

Lanes witch hazel and tea tree cream for anything skin. It heals almost any spot/cut/itch overnight.

It’s also fantastic on pets - heals very quickly and they don’t like the tea tree taste so don’t lick it off. Amazing stuff.
