Products that really, actually work

I am evangelical about HG bathroom mould spray. It gets rid of the black mould in the tile grout and works fairly well on silicone too. I think it bleaches it, I’m not sure, but anyway I used it and transformed my shower tiles which I thought would need to be regrouted.

No I don’t work for them. I’m just amazed that it works so well Blush

Anyone else evangelical about a product?

Schwarzkopf Go2Be Oilicious hair oil. I've got lots of straight, but very fine hair which goes fluffy really easily. Hairdresser commented that my hair was like Claudia Wonkelman's last time.

I do tend to have a fringe I can see out of though.

Magic sponges - used damp they are great for lots of things, especially random marks on walls.

Sugar soap for cleaning greasy kitchen units. I bought Elbow Grease and found it wanting in comparison.

Oven Pride for cooker shelves, grill pans, etc.

A Stanley scraper for getting grime off glass oven doors.

Sticky Stuff Remover for even really old sticky residue.

@Underamour - please can you post a photo of your primer? I'm searching the Wilko's site and there are loads. Which one worked for you? I have all the same issues and would love to look better! Thanks

Pixi under eye colour corrector.
Aldi bb cream and believe it or not poundland hair dye.

notthemum · 11/10/2021 08:30

@ OP. This is a great thread. I've found loads of tips. Thank-you.

@PersonaNonGrata.
Is the cream any use as a moisturiser and can it be used daily ?
If not, can anyone please recommend a really good one for dry skin ?
Am nearly 60 and since an accident earlier in the year have developed very dry arms and legs.
TIA.

I have the same issue and have been hugely disappointed by every product I have tried. Usually because they weigh my hair down and turn it into a greasy mess by the end of the day. Does this stuff weigh you hair down?

The Dove body lotion in the huge burgundy bottle transforms dry and bumpy skin just as well as Ameliorate does, for pennies. Both products stink though so only use at night.

Sainsbury's own brand waxing strips, far more assertive and grippy than any branded ones.

Color Wow Dreamcoat, actually smooths and straightens hair.

Underamour · 11/10/2021 08:38

@Albertbridge it’s this one. It took about 3/4 days to notice a difference

Another vote for Lidls de greaser spray - it works!

MissCreeAnt · 11/10/2021 08:45

Hob Brite. I don't normally buy a lot of specialist cleaners but this only costs about £1 and works astonishingly well on glass hobs.

Elbow Grease is good, but no different to every other cream cleanser IMO. I don't get the brand loyalty on that one.

peridito · 11/10/2021 08:47

@BigButtons - you may have tried them but Garnier do a range of shampoo ,conditioner etc without silicones. I've found them great as they don't weigh down your hair .

They have one for fine hair ,watermelon I think .And v good value!

Spidey66 · 11/10/2021 08:49

Flexitol heel balm

Flufferty · 11/10/2021 08:50

Bath Power. Gets rid of soap scum with no effort

AnnaSW1 · 11/10/2021 08:54

Korean Italy towels are amazing

Yahyahs22 · 11/10/2021 08:56

Vanish soap bar. Gets all my stains out

Kimblebee19 · 11/10/2021 08:58

I am equally evangelical about HG Mould Spray - I'll tell anyone who'll listen 🙈

Also on my list:
Kilrock descaler
Domestos Sparkle and shine toilet bleach (white bottle - wont use any other again)
Neutradol gel air freshener thing for by rabbit/cat smells
Oven Pride (no scrubbing!)
A decent microfibre cloth for effortlessly streak free mirrors and glass (the amount of time I wasted before I got one trying to get rid of streaks, it now takes seconds after using the Nilco glass cleaner)

If anyone has anything to shift extremely stubborn limescale marks on a shower screen thats been neglected i'm all ears - I've tried about everything, not even Kilrock is shifting it.

FluffyTeddyBear · 11/10/2021 09:33

Barkeepers friend powder. Removes stains from everything.

Ourlady · 11/10/2021 09:36

@Kimblebee19 for the shower I recommend using Stardrops all round cleaner (orange liquid) and a stainless steel scourer (originally called pan pals)round metal ball like things you get a few in a pack.

Dilute the stardrops in a bowl of water and keep dipping the scourer in the water and scrub. Pan pals work the best when they are very wet. They don't scratch and I use them for cleaning so many glass and metal things around the house.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 11/10/2021 09:41

Koh for the oven, I can't use those oven pride things, they smell awful and it catches my throat. Koh makes cleaning the oven so blooming easy

Sgtmajormummy · 11/10/2021 09:43

Lidl’s version of Flash in the spray bottle. It cleaned my tea stained Fragranite sink when nothing else did.
Ajax crystal window spray. I hate washing windows and this does it in one go without streaking.
Perspirex antiperspirant roll-on. You can just forget about sweat and smells from that day on.

MilduraS · 11/10/2021 09:49

I love that mould remover despite the smell. I tend to open a window, spray liberally then run out and close the door behind me.

Viakal limescale remover is equally amazing. I used to spend hours trying to get water marks off the shower glass but it takes minutes with a quick spray of viakal.

dementedma · 11/10/2021 09:56

Agree Pink Stuff is excellent. Otherwise I use the Ocean Savers refill pods for all other cleaning.

Mangozesty · 11/10/2021 10:30

This looks great! Where can you get it?

Libertaire · 11/10/2021 10:36

Driclor anti-perspirant. Yes, it stings, but if you have serious problem sweating which normal deodorants won’t touch it is the solution.
