Products that really, actually work

I am evangelical about HG bathroom mould spray. It gets rid of the black mould in the tile grout and works fairly well on silicone too. I think it bleaches it, I’m not sure, but anyway I used it and transformed my shower tiles which I thought would need to be regrouted.

No I don’t work for them. I’m just amazed that it works so well Blush

Anyone else evangelical about a product?

I was going to say same thing! Astonish is also amazing for mould removal and so cheap.

HG extra strong carpet stain remover.Gets ANYTHING off.

Anycrispsleft · 11/10/2021 10:53

Gall soap is amazing for getting biological stains out. DD1 has a tendency to nosebleeds, and it's really useful. It often does well on food stains and black poster paint, for some reason.
@Albertbridge it’s this one. It took about 3/4 days to notice a difference
Underarmour... I am so glad you posted this picture.

I am not in the UK and often posters mention Wilko brand make up/skin care items. I see now that it is the Essence brand which we get here as well. I have tried a few items of theirs which so far have all be pretty great. I have their other primer, the Protecting version. I bought this one in particular as it has UVA/B protection with spf of 20. Its really great as well.

Their eye pencil is the only one I use as well, it doesn't transfer on the top lid (I have this problem thanks to ageing eyelids...) and it not pricy at all.

I managed to find some other products mentioned here. I found the Pink Stuff paste, and I used it to scrub up my kitchen tiles, I was shocked to see how much grime was on there before.

And Astonish, their fabric stain spray is up there with Vanish, and the shower spray is as good at the really expensive Mr Muscle (not sure if you get this one there) version.

Dr Beckmans carpet shampoo got rid of a stain nothing else had touched.
Method glass cleaner doesn't leave streaks.

Mrs Meyers multisurface sprays clean well and smell gorgeous.
Ecover washing up liquid is a great more eco friendly product.
Parade gloss for shoe polish.

@Kimblebee19 viakal for your shower doors, you won't look back

Underamour · 11/10/2021 11:18

@AlbertBridge I am glad you have found it. Wilko does lots of great make up and nail varnish cheaply it’s my well kept secret. The only problem is that some shops no longer carry the cosmetics so you have to hunt for the stores that do. They used to do a 16 hour foundation that was brilliant as well but sadly it got discontinued. I’ve used all sorts so it’s good to find products that work.

It’s funny this thread appeared today as I am desperate yo get rid of mould on sealant in the shower. I will be trying the HG.

LookItsMeAgain · 11/10/2021 11:44

@AlbertBridge & @Underamour - the Essence brand is stocked in Primark/Penneys and in lots of other retailers but I'd imagine that Primark is one of their biggest resellers/stockists.

AlbertBridge · 11/10/2021 13:35

@Underamour Thank you got the photo! I've ordered it and paid £8 postage so it'll get here tomorrow 😂

poohaloo · 11/10/2021 13:43

A glass cloth from Tesco
Cleans windows beautifully with just this slightly damp cloth
Also great on overnight fours and stainless steel
Not one streak!

poohaloo · 11/10/2021 13:45

Oven doors!!

Yes I need my overnight fours cleaning 😂😂

LadyofMisrule · 11/10/2021 14:02

For kettles I use citric acid. It works best with boiling water, so if it cools while there is still limes ale in the kettle, I just reboil it. I find it better than Kilrock because it has no strong after taste. And it’s cheap as chips.

@AlbertBridge I hope it works for you too. @LookItsMeAgain - I didn’t realise that - Thought it was Wilkos own brand. That’s good to know
