You’ve got a childfree weekend next weekend staying with a friend. A couple of other girlfriends are joining you. The weather forecast is looking good for October (dry & not freezing).

Friend lives somewhere with easy access to both pleasant smaller market towns / big city / beautiful countryside.

What do you want to do?

Ticket for football match or some other sporting event or theatre in the afternoon, pub in the evening, walk and pub lunch the next day.

Just chill and enjoy each other's company. Walk, lunch, booze!

Dinner out on Friday night.

Trip into a city on saturday daytime for a wander, then mid afternoon a cocktail making class and some drinks after. Nibbles and fizz back to the house.

Sunday am village explore inc coffee and pastries there.

Well I actually am - Walking local trails (spa wasn’t available) dinner and cocktails in the town in evening.

Spa and bottomless brunch

Nothing. I actively demanded that we not do stuff on my girls weekend away. I don’t want to be schlepping round a museum on my weekend away! We ate a lot and drank a lot and sat in a hot tub. It was great.

A spot of parkrun tourism, or run through countryside on Saturday morning, then to one of the nice market towns or the big city for (light) lunch, shopping, exhibition galleries etc. Or to a match. Pub for dinner and boozing/chatting late in to the night

Lie in on Sunday (important!) then brunch in a different market town (or the big city). See if there are any lunchtime concerts, special events, farmers markets etc

That was us this weekend, on Friday night we went to see the normal heart, it was brilliant, them we all had a night out and ended up with very sore heads.

Yesterday we hired a private spa and then all bundled in my car to spend the night at our holiday home, today we had some nice walks in the forest of dean before heading back home this afternoon.

Just had a lovely weekend in Cambridge, punting, sightseeing, far too much food. Would recommend.

I’d sack the friends off and spend the day on my own on my horse. But that’s not in the spirit…..if forced to be social I’d want a good pub and a national trust property to look at.

Spa, shopping, theatre, food, alcohol. Any or all of those things!

SilenceOfThePrams · 10/10/2021 21:40

Takeaway Friday night.
SLEEP.
Nice breakfast, lazy start, long walk with a soup type lunch somewhere in the middle of it.
Chat and eat and chill Saturday night.
SLEEP
Nice breakfast, potter, leave
Stop somewhere on the way home for some proper alone time ideally somewhere a bit windy and wild but cafe would do.
Back into the fray.
