Nice hotel central Manchester

Never been to the city before - planning on lots of galleries /meals out/bars so it's not imperative that we have a fantastic hotel as we'll be out most of the time, however would like a step up from Premier Inn.

Please hit me up with your recommendations -going Friday to Monday end of October so accept prices will be higher but would like somewhere central and quirky.
Also any recs for Vegetarian/Vegan dining would be amazing.

Thanking you in advance! Grin

We had a flat by the station. Excellent.

Bouledeneige · 10/10/2021 18:45

I thought Cow Hollow Hotel looked nice but Ive bit stayed there or checked prices.

Bouledeneige · 10/10/2021 18:46

Sorry typo - but I've not stayed there.

Cow Hollow looks wonderful but it's a bit over what we wanted to spend. I live in London, so am not daft about what you get for your money; completely accept we might have to be a bit further out from central though

We went to the Lowry and it was nothing special.

All other times we’ve been to the Jury’s Inn and it’s excellent (and much cheaper).

The Cow Hollow or Locke hotel, you might struggle to book somewhere nice only a few weeks away.

Vegan wise, Bundobust have just opened a brewery/curry house, The Allotment is lovely and Purezza is a vegan pizza place. Mcr is pretty good though so I'd expect most places to have good options on the menu. Stick to the east side for restaurants and venture into Ancoats for some lovely bars and restaurants. Deansgate area is pretty mediocre for food.

DedalusBloom · 10/10/2021 18:50

oh now that's good to know!

The Midland is a historic hotel and has just been fully renovated. Also quite a lot of offers at the moment.

DedalusBloom · 10/10/2021 18:55

@edgeware Thank you!

Blackleaf does amazing vegan food.

Favouriteworstnightmare · 10/10/2021 19:26

The radisson is lovely as is aBode and the Macdonald hotel.

The Radisson is gentle walking distance of Spinningfields whereas aBode is in the middle of Picadilly bus station and the Macdonald hotel is adjacent to the Piccadilly train station.

dreamingofsun · 10/10/2021 19:31

Its not especially central or quirky, but there are lots of buses to the centre. We liked the chancellors hotel.

LawnFever · 10/10/2021 19:33

King Street Town House, Hotel Gotham or the Raddison Edwardian on Peter Street Smile

Chihuahuacat · 10/10/2021 19:35

Klimpton hotel on Oxford road (was the palace hotel) recently been renovated and super central.

Veggie restaurants: allotment, bundobust

myrtleWilson · 10/10/2021 19:38

Cow Hollow is nice but the rooms are very small and the bar area is minute. I've stayed in the Midland a few years back so can't comment on refurb. On Princess St I stayed in a perfectly acceptable place kind of opposite the TownHouse but have looked on google maps and can't find it now. However, in general now I prefer to stay in aparthotels - more space (especially when travelling with DC) and bit more freedom on food front etc... Lots of decent aparthotel options in Manchester

thirstyformore · 10/10/2021 19:40

We stayed at kings street town house a few years ago. Was lovely.

RunAwayNow · 10/10/2021 19:40

The Midland or Kimpton.

Agree with pps who recommended Bundobust for food. The Jane Eyre in Ancoats is also a lovely hidden gem.

vinoandbrie · 10/10/2021 21:28

Kings Street Townhouse, or any of the eclectic hotel group.

AuntieMarys · 10/10/2021 21:29

We always stay at the Abode.
Evuna is a great tapas place

DedalusBloom · 10/10/2021 22:44

Thanks so much everyone! Off to Google. Grin

superram · 10/10/2021 23:09

We liked the radisson Edwardian.

mlj123 · 11/10/2021 00:52

Hotel indigo

Jumpingintochristmas · 11/10/2021 00:56

Purezza is delicious.
The Refuge has a good vegan section on the menu too.

endoflevelbaddy · 11/10/2021 00:57

I was going to suggest Great John Street but looks like it's closed for refurbishment
