Cooking disasters

DH has managed to melt the blender while making bacon sandwiches. He's normally a capable person, but does manage the bizarre at times (as do I, but mine usually involving injuring myself in strange ways...)

Anyone else done anything strange recently?

Melted a loaf of bread into my hideously expensive toaster. Popped the loaf on top of toaster not realizing it had just been used.

I once made a garlic pasta dish which had so much garlic I'm surprised people didn't check I was fighting vampires.

It was beyond inedible and took about three hours to cook! BlushGrin

is there such a thing as too much garlic?

Ex DP burned an egg when was tying to make hard boiled eggs.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/10/2021 20:56

if it did not involve burning the house down then it can not be as bad as someone local near us.

NoEffingWay · 10/10/2021 21:22

@BlackeyedSusan I would have said the same, but it turns out 20 cloves (I did check the recipe twice!) is about 15 cloves too many Grin

Not me, my mother - she has a habit of bagging things up and chucking them unlabelled into the freezer. She made a delicious apple crumble that turned out to be potatoes. With lashings of custard.

It did once take DH three attempts to boil an egg.
He didn't realise the boiling time was from when the water was boiling, not cold...
(He doesn't like eggs, he was trying to cook one for DDs)

As for me, I once dropped the whole dinner on the floor. We had takeaway that night.
